any help on getting my scanner, canon canoscan lide 90 to work with my
laptop. i have ubuntu 8.10 installed.

i did some research on this problem and am sorry the result are quite
grim.. that particular model of printer doesnt have linux support. the
manufacturer from all the post i saw online decided to drop linux
support from their printers. one solution might be to install xp thru
virtualbox and setup use the scanner from there .. cheers

Note that the virtualbox packaged in ubuntu doesn't support usb
devices. You need the virtualbox obtained directly from sun's website.
It's not difficult to setup.

Furthermore, as a linux user, it pays to whenever possible, do a bit
of research before buying hardware.
