Show open/in use ports

I have been trying to figure out whyt Thunderbird can't get my yahoo mail.

I am able to read email thru Firefox.

It uses these ports. 465,587,993, and 995.

Is there a way to tell if those ports are open or being used?

I have no firewall.

i am just assuming you might have to enable it from your yahoo settings.
