Hi:

One other thing to double check is that the server's IP addresses are not colliding with existing address.  Along with DNS, I've also seen NIC's drop behavior when this collision exists.

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

I have installed Ubuntu on an R900 server (plan to use it as a vhost). Not
the first time I've done this, but in this case I seem to be having some
networking issues. Namely, connections seem to keep dropping in and out.
There seems to be some initial delays in connectivity (especially when
connecting to the Internet) following by good connectivity, then the
occasional drop out. There are two sets of NICs on the box: one Broadcom
and one Intel and they both seem to exhibit this behavior. Any ideas? I
have read that sometimes power management can interfere with this, but
there does not seem to be any consistent way of checking this or turning it
off.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Delays followed by good connectivity to the Internet? The first thought
that comes to me is DNS.

That might be a factor. I'll try.
