Hello and good day

I have a question about VPN ? Does it work in Ubuntu 10.10 64bit. I have tried to hook up my desktop and laptop through VPN Ubuntu 10.10 64bit.My desktop is LAN and the laptop is through wifi. I have the user and password the same on both systems. is there a detailed step by step. I have tried to find good info with google but everything I try does not work :(

I have tried windows 7 on both systems and it works both ways form laptop (wifi) to desktop (LAN) and the other way around.
