I'm a very active person but we need a group leader. I'm a busy student but I can manage if we have A LEADER.

The team leader is Nayif, but (like other LoCos) the leader doesn't have
a very significant position in the team. Any one can come, help out/do work.

Its recommended that a new member first contacts the leader and then
asks on what he can do. In such a case, feel free to mail nayif on
nay...@gmail.com , or me on this address, or to this mailing list.

BTW, How can you help us? You are very welcome to do that, as there are
many things remaining to be done in this team.

Nayif shall continue to be the leader, and it doesn't matter if he isn't
active.

If you want to step up, feel free to. Just mail this list about your
intention to be the leader.

The group may be stagnant, but that doesn't affect you in case you want
to do something, since just ANYTHING that happens now will be good.

What restructuring do we need? The team was restructured around 6 months ago. I dont think we need to do that again. If someone wants to step up as leader, then please state that. According to the loco policy a formal leader is really not needed and there are a few approved and highly active teams without active leaders as well (like ubuntu-in). Sent from Yahoo! As for the prerequisites, they are listed on [1].

According to [1] its recommended that the team leader be an Ubuntu
member, but that is something which is not possible in this region (I am
the only Ubuntu member in Saudi Arabia, and I am not willing to be the
leader, as I don't know Arabic).

Active means that the team continuously helps Ubuntu users and promotes
Ubuntu in the country through events, and that the team has quite many
people.

I'm the leader of the Linux group in KFUPM CCSE Club. We're already planning a software freedom day which I mentioned a couple of months ago. What can the loco team offer me in such event so it takes some of the credit as well? It's  planned for it as a 2-3 days event where we spread FLOSS around the campus and Khobar.

Well I just wanted to change the old name of the event. It was anti=piracy campaign. I guess I'll have to change it to opensource campaign

but you don't need to use its logo

just put a windows screen shot and write next to it "Are you tired from using you Operating System" , "do you like trying new things?" or "you can't use commercial software. FLOSS is your answer"

don't use copyrighted logos of any software

haven't seen any of STC and Mobily  ads

they don't point to each other directly

Not every open source is free. Even Microsoft opened some of its source. Richard Stallman of FSF does not like OSS naming. FOSS or FLOSS, whatever, as long as they get to know them.

When the date of the event is decided, could you please give me a mail
with the details? I will blog about it and since I am an Ubuntu Member,
others on planet.ubuntu.com could be able to read my blog post. This is
something which every LoCo does before and after an event.
