Okay, I've got two systems running Ubuntu now - a tower (Jaunty) with a 536ep, and a laptop (Intrepid) without.
The tower:
wolfeyes@Master:~$ ls /dev/modem
ls: cannot access /dev/modem: No such file or directory
The laptop:
wolfeyes@wolfeyes-laptop:~$ ls /dev/modem
ls: cannot access /dev/modem: No such file or directory
(the laptop is an utterly clean install, and running on wireless - I haven't even attempted to use the modem yet)
Oops?

Greatly appreciated. I haven't had alot of time recently, and haven't been able to make heads or tails out of my notes from when you stepped me through packaging.
Getting old is not for sissies. :-/
