Hi all,

I'm getting stuck when trying to remotely install mysql on my
Slicehost Ubuntu 8.4 box via Terminal on my Macbook Pro running
10.5.6.

When this interactive dialog comes up, I'm unable to enter anything at
all. Is this a obscure Terminal setting or something else?

To be clear, I run "cap machine:install_dev_tools" -- I'm asked for
the root password on the CLI, I type it in and then it appears that
aptitude takes over. Shortly thereafter, a dialogue box comes up
requesting a default root password. Isn't this supposed to be bypassed
when the "-y" flag is used with aptitude?

Thanks in advance!

Paul

Hello Paul,

You mean Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS (hardy), right?
Which version of the gem do you use? (type gem list to find it)
Have you run the cap machine:initial_setup and cap machine:configure
before cap machine:install_dev_tools ?

I just re-launched a slice install right now.

Thomas.

I just re-installed my slice with Ubuntu 0.04 1 LTS (hardy), then did :
* cap machine:initial_setup
* cap machine:configure
* cap machine:install_dev_tools

I've set a password when prompted (password was *not* left blank) :
* for the root user
* for the new user
* for the MySQL root user

I'm using Ubuntu Machine 0.3.1.1.

Please let me know if you still have the problem.

Best,
Thomas.
