Alternative software for Cisco switch

So I've spent several hours searching without finding anything relevant so far and I thought I would check with the community to see if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction. I have a little bit older Cisco catalyst switch (3750) that was given to me. Since I'm not going to add a maintenance contract to get an updated IOS and I'm not to found of their software anyway, I am looking to see if there is an alternate software that can be used with this hardware. Something like the DD-WRT I use on my router (yes I checked there already.)
