Thought this would be of interest to most people here.  There's been a little bit of activity on the Texas Loco front.  There was a bug put in today raising the need for the Texas Loco to move to an approved Loco status.  The bug is here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/texasteam/+bug/475646

In case you are interested in what's involved in becoming an approved Loco, here's a reference from the Ubuntu Wiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoGettingApproved

If we are able to have a meeting sometime, this would be a good topic for discussion.  They are looking to pull together a group of representatives from the regional Locos to start the process of getting to an approved status.

Thanks,
Paul Larson

Would it be possible for some of us to get together in the next week
or two to start mapping out a plan for how the Austin Team can play
its role in this? Does this team have any sort of leadership
structure? I'm still new to the group so please excuse me not knowing
yet. :)

I'd be up for meeting with whoever can come out, especially if they
have some first-hand knowledge of how a Loco gets approved.

Best,

A few of us are idling in the ubuntu-us-tx channel, I know there are two other Austin locals there.

Are you wanting to meet in person? How about setting up a time to
meet on IRC?

Does the Austin Team have an IRC room, or might we use the Texas Team
IRC room? It seems like either in-person or IRC would work for our
purposes.

Best,

Bill

texas team chat plz, we don't need to isolate ourselves. if we want to hold a private meeting once we're all there, we can move. I doubt there will ever be activity that interferes with a meeting in the channel though, not enough people. Also having a more open meeting will make things appear more active so it may behoove others to get active as well. (one of my reasons for wanting consolidation of communications is to appear busy, so that people will become active...make sense?)

The irc channel used for the Austin regional Loco is #ubuntu-austin, and for the Texas Loco it is #ubuntu-us-tx.  These can both be found on irc.freenode.net.
