Hi everyone,
I am glad to inform you that "ubuntu srilanka (tamil) translating team" has been approved and established today. I had to undergo many hardships to get it approved. i had show case, evidence , links and to submit many technical arguments to convince the top level UBUNTU TRANSLATORS.
This approval gives two important recognition.
(1) Srilanka (Tamil) has been identified as a Unique Tamil Language. We were able to convince that it is more than a regional variants of the same language. Unlike sinhala ( the root origin is Srilanka - therefore there is no issue of creating a team ), but Tamil , there is regional variant in INDIA , SINGAPORE , MALAYSIA and many european countries. Out of this only ta_IN was existing all this time. But now ta_LK also joined the group as an independent entity.
(2) This will give us a qualification and an international recognition not only in Open Source, but we can use this case as an evidence on the other relevant sectors to make Srilanka (Tamil ) as a unique variant of the same language.
