I was asking because I can't stay connected all the time, and if I post a question and then disconnect I can't see if anybody answered it. Instead, we should be able to use a system where logging is more or less built in, like the IndieWeb channels, e.g.:

Fwiw, I nowadays use riot.im for many of my needs, and it comes with an irc bridge that also acts as a bouncer.
A solution could be to setup a matrix channel for ubos and have it permanently linked to irc.
