I have been determined to try and locate a Glossy Ibis here in Utah and on my trip around the Bear River MBR auto tour loop today I was so blessed. I kept checking out all the Ibis I could find and finally noticed one that looked a little different from the 4 white-faced ibis it was with. So on closer inspection much to my joy I was able to determine that it was a Glossy Ibis. The harder part was trying to get a decent photo of it as the White Faced kept chasing it back in among the phragmites. It finally came out and I was able to get some passing photos to verify it was definitely a Glossy Ibis. Also believe I saw a 1st year Great White Egret. I was able to view it through my spotting scope and it looked like a Great Egret, which there was one with it, but this one had a mandabile that was yellowish/orange on the lower and greenish/gray on the top manabile. Characteristic of a 1st year Great White Heron. I wasn't able to see its legs as it was standing behind a pelican that was resting on the ground. When I reached into my Jeep to get my camera to try and photograph it, well yep, it took off and flew out of sight.
