I led a small group to a fun night of owling Friday night. We found all three target owls for the individuals in the group. An out-of-state birder wanted to see a Flammulated and Western Screech-Owl and a local birder had hopes of seeing a Saw-whet Owl. We found Flammulated and Saw-whet on the Alpine Loop and then a Common Poorwill provided close looks in the same vicinity as a Western Screech-owl we found in Pleasant Grove. It was quite a treat to help an out-of-state birder get four life birds with the owls and the poorwill.

The best owl of the night for me was a Juvenile Saw-whet because I think they are the coolest little owls in the world with their unique plumage. I've loved seeing them ever since I saw my first one several years ago. I've shared some of Friday night's juvenile Saw-whet in my latest blog post.
