There is an injured Sandhill Crane was just in my yard.  It's good an injured leg but is able to limp.  Any suggestions for someone who might be able to help?

I've called the Swaner Ecocenter and they suggested DWR.  I've left a message there.

Hi Margaret-

You may want to also call a wildlife rehabilitator (contact info found here: https://wildlife.utah.gov/learn-more/258-wildlife-rehabilitators.html ). That may be a quicker solution.

But if the bird is able to fly on its own, I think most biologists would recommend leaving it to its own devices, especially as we're still in the midst of the breeding season and we'd ideally like to keep potential parents around to raise their young.  Plus, an attempt to capture a mostly ambulatory but still flighted bird might well result in a bad outcome.

Thanks for reaching out-

-Russ
