In addition to the birds Oliver reported, part of the group did some
birding along the way to St. George at Oak Grove CG and around the St.
George area on Friday. Highlights include:
Plumbeous, Warbling, and Bell's Vireos, Grace's Warbler,
White-breasted and Pygmy Nutchatches, Black-throated Gray Warblers,
and Hermit Thrushes calling on the way to/at Oak Grove Campground,
Cattle Egret, Forster's Tern, at least a thousand swallows, and a
debated Blue Grosbeak/Indigo Bunting (flew off before we could get a
positive identification) at Springs Pond in east St. George
and
Black-chinned Sparrows along the road to the radio tower on Utah Hill
on Saturday morning.
In spite of the crazy wind we had blowing us around all weekend, I
think we had a fairly successful trip and everyone had a great time!
