Twice in the past two days, has Ubiquity forced me to restart my
system by hanging the entire computer - and in the same way.

I hit the key combo for Ubiquity and start typing. Only 2 letters get
displayed and then everything freezes. Neither Firefox, nor any other
windows are responsive - just my touchpad. Then I have to use the
"Raising Skinny Elephants Is Utterly Boring" dance to restart the
system.

I'm using Firefox 3.5 on Ubuntu Jaunty. Hardware specs are Duo 2 GHz
processors and 3 GB RAM - Sony VAIO NR-498E

Any suggestions as to why this happens?

There are some known responsiveness issues with Ubiquity 0.5. This is
a high priority area of work for the 0.5.1 release we're starting to
work towards.

Same problem. Two letters and it's Firefox is all hung up. I'm running
it on Firefox 3.5 and Windows Vista. Do look into this issue! I miss
fooling around with Ubiquity :(

We've pushed a new 0.5.1 beta which I believe fixes this freeze bug.
You can get this beta here:

http://ubiquity.mozilla.com/xpi/ubiquity-latest-beta.xpi

(Note: for techinical reasons it's called 0.5pre7.)

I would love to know if this helps solve the issue.

Seems to be working fine as of now. Will let you if any trouble creeps
up. Great work with the quick update!
