Karin,

I did everything I did for thought-out reasons and while I am happy to discuss all of it, I am not willing to be second-guessed about any public-facing aspect of the site.

I understand you not wanting to play much with fonts in a given section, because DNN's markup software is so easily confused, but don't worry about that, because I am editing the HTML directly.

I have not had a minute to think about the content for the new site, but we are making progress on the design and tech. So the lifetime of the public facing site is weeks at most, perhaps days. It is silly to be tweaking the old site any further; its purpose is to provide minimum functionality.

More to the point, the public website is the sole responsibility of the executive directors, in consultation with the Board. I expect you to treat me and the UBarU executive team in a professional manner, as customers. If you make any changes to the site without consulting me or Irene, I will reverse them.

I am removing the calendar page, by the way. We will have a public-facing calendar, but we should not be announcing some of the more controversial groups that are coming here. That's a privacy risk and a security risk.

Hi Jackie,

I always let the site’s skin manage colors by not overriding any colors explicitly.  Instead, if you want to use a larger or bolder font for a particular bit of text to stand out, then I suggest using the buttons on the editor to mark text with “bold” and “larger”. For the titles of the modules, I surround the title with <h5> and </h5>, which will make it match the gold color of the background.

I will go ahead and add back the video so you can see how it looks.  I personally didn’t think it looked cluttered with the video as it did make the site more interactive.  I can also set it up so it starts to play when the user first visits the page, but I figured that might be a nuisance for repeat visits.

Hi Karin,

I think a solid color font would help clean up the front a bit, yes. Was black the default for the home page, or the gray I see on the side? Thanks for offering to do that.

Not sure about the video - I think its a nice interactive element that people can access right away when they visit the site. Maybe there is a way to keep it and the current text w/o looking too cluttered?

Thanks,

Jackie

Hi All,

The UBarU website is getting quite weird with all the mixture of colors and fonts, and the video has been taken off the home page.  Were those changes intentional?  The mixture of colors and fonts has me most concerned as it makes the site look unprofessional in appearance.  Would you like for me to polish it up a bit?

Thanks,

Karin
