NMEA parser for MP / UDB and parser for Fastrax GPS

Guys,
Did anyone do any efforts to write a NMEA parser for the MP?
I know the Bill posted a "good" starting point some time ago, but did
anyone rally bit onto this?
Since I had to re-do my plans regarding porting oth MP-H cade to the
3.x code-base had an idea of havong a look at this. Still being a
complete novice I'm not sure if this is a suitable project, but I'm
attracted to the "state machine architecture" of the code posted by
Bill. (I.I.R.C).
Another question: Justin, are you listening in here? Didn't you buy a
Fastrax IT03-02? How are you going to implement it into your project?
Did you write a parser, or can the Fastrax IT03-02 emulate another
GPS (being controlled using another protocol)?
I have been "sponsored" by the Ddistributor of Digi products here in
Norway, and they also carry the Fastrax GPS in their inventory.
That, and the fact that it looked like the unit you did some testing
with, showed some remarkable results regarding to precision, captured
my interest.
Are you satisfied with your unit for your application (helicopter,
wasn't it)?
