Hi Umar,
I had this experience recently .  The setup was working successfully almost a year ago, but few days back when plugged every thing back on the same compute , i got the same msg/issue ( unable to find the USB driver..).
Cure was to read the "   PICProgrammingGettingStarted.pdf " Care fully once again and start fresh. I uninstalled the older ver and downloaded the  MP lab  8.66 fresh .  Do not plug the ICD 2 at this time.  Just install the newer MP lab and complier as per the said document.  Once done plug in the ICD 2 , when it asks for driver , point it to folder  driver folder under ICD2 under MPLAB IDE.

the path if default installation is used  will be some thing like this
.../program files/Microchip/MPLAB IDE/ICD2/Drivers.

If you are using USB to power up ICD2 then you don't have to worry.  I was searching for drivers every were else and then realized it is MPLABs baby.  Note , some low quality USB cables have issues , so try changeing it too. You don't need to plug UDB to ICD2  for MPLab  to resolve this issue.

cheers
Morli
