Hey Guys!

I'm planning to do a hardware in the loop simulation using x-plane 10 flight simulator with UDB5.

My aim of this HIL simulation is to test my own model plane performance with GPS binary data readings.

My question is : does the x-plane send an imaginary GPS data to UDB as NMEA data  or Binary data?

I would like to test my code using binary data (Ublox). Any options?

Best wishes,

John,

John,

The X-Plane HILSIM plugin sends data over the serial link back to the UDB5 running MatrixPilot using a Ublox binary protocol. We only send the Ublox data from HILSIM that is required by MatrixPilot. (Some data like HDOP is sent with a fixed made up number.)

When you set the following in options.h
#define HILSIM  1
then the Mplab-x project make files override  what ever you have set as the GPS  device in the options.h file, and uses Ublox running at 4Hz to connect with X-Plane.

Best wishes, Pete
