I am just curious as to the opinion of other students who are involved,
have contributed or have heard about the chapters direction and progress...

Any thoughts?

Also need to confirm one detail...

Trying to ensure the project doesn't stagnate again.

A situational report is definitely required to follow that initial request as I am in a bit confused on where to go and need the benefit of others experience.

Six months ago (or there abouts), nothing was happening in terms of an actual server being put in place for hosting the website with only one page design really complete.

I wanted to get the infrastructure in place and deliver the channel of communication for all of UoP's students as soon as possible.

It was my own decision to go with the current setup as I thought it was best. Through my own arrogance, ignorance and self-inflicted sense of responsibility to help as many as possible future generations, I didn't consider the view of others. I thought I knew better through maintaining IT infrastructures as a living.

I would like to propose that the current implementation of the website is scrapped as after extensive review focusing upon disaster recovery, the current strategy is not satisfactory.

In blatant terms, if something happened to the site it could not be recovered fully. This is gross unforgivable error that will not happen again.

All judgements regarding the technology used was my own decision and I take full responsibility for any failure or wasted time incurred.

The strengths which it offered related to easier creation, maintenance, expansion along with an embedded communication channel.

DR (disaster recovery) was not overly considered as I intended to provide everything that you desired as soon as possible. In reality, in the event of a failure the provider of the web site hosting and CMS does not have a backup infrastructure which would place the recovery of massive amounts of work by students to be stored then pulled manually piece by piece.

I do have a solution to propose but this will maybe backtrack the development of the site for a period of time. If anyone is available to discuss this it would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone care about the progress of the chapter anymore?

Am I completely alone in this?

If being the silence continues the investment (the hosting deal for the website and all the features) already made will be turned to other means.
