Hi all,

Lets figure out the basic details we should for a start on the website such as
1) Home page content
2) Forum functionality
3) Membership page

These are the three main pages that must be fully functional on a good start.

Homepage:
Any suggestions for content on the homepage should be uploaded either as an attachement or pasted here directly but should indicate that it is content for homepage.

Forum:
I suggest, and if possible let there be login before one can access the forum. So that the author name for any comment should appear next to the comment. Tombnail photo is optional but prefered.

Membership
The membership page should be present since we'll be having new members coming in as we launch the website. They should be able to add their names. In this case, there could be a textbox and a button for that or anything that achive this.

If this can be implemented, then I think we are set for something great.

Hi everyone,

Just a little something: there are some website features which we outlined in the action plan we submitted to the university. While I know that we can't have those features up at launch, the website must at least have room for them.

About the membership page, I think it will be much easier if we only put up a "Membership Request" page instead of letting the system do it automatically.

Of course, content. We can't just launch a website without content. What do we intend to do about this?

Hi,

Sorry for sending two consecutive messages but I thought it would be better if I uploaded that particular action plan.

Of course, in term of officers and membership, the file is already outdated.

I was going to come with the question of a membership page..
We are definitely goin to have basic information of our members albeit, are users going to get an open form that they can feel their details and automatically become a user after meeting some basic verification checks for info such as emails.

Or would it be in such a way that members can filll a membership nd then an administrator will verify and approve their membership before they can become users or enjoy wat privilege users enjoy. (This I recommend)

Or an admin pre - registers new member and supply them with login info.

The second option, definitely. Just as you recommended. However, I think the forums should be open for public view.

Hi Ali,

Please note that the membershp page is a page on its own where incoming CS students desiring to be members of UoPeople ACM Student Chapter can be registered and the admin has to participate in this and not just allow everyone to access the list and add names indescrimantely or unfairly.

Maybe, you can see the way I structured the list in the old template I submitted last year. I think the format was [Academic Year, Name, Email, Country].

For foum registration, let it be freely open to everyone and let names appear next to comments such that if someone forgets to sign her/his comment we should know the author.

Thanks for the great job already by verifying these points!

I really cannot keep track of this discussion any more, I downloaded the proposed graphics design of the website with my computer at work, now I can't find the specific thread it was posted in.

please Ateefac, could you send it directly to my email so I can finish up work on it this weekend.

Thanks All.
