If i go back on netflix homepage, i can mirror the homepage with no probelm, but as soon as i start the video, the screen goes blank and i only hear the sound (but i can see the rest of the interface).
In brief, when i mirror netflix from Mac to TV, i have no problem mirroring until the video loads up and starts playing. From that point, the screen goes white and i only hear audio (as if they dont want me to watch the film on a TV).
i just bought a roku tv and as soon as i set it up and turned netflix on it started flashing a white screen followed by a grey screen with a bracket at the center. i have reset it, unplugged and plugged it back in, and tried a youtube factory reset tutorial. it will not stop doing it. please help
When problems are confined to a particular channel, it may be that the channel didn't install properly, that it didn't update correctly, or that the installation has otherwise gotten corrupted. A reinstall may fix the problem, so give it a try. Remove/reinstall procedure:
Does the issue happen on a Roku TV? If so, have you tried contacting the TV manufacturer to inquire further? I'd suggest starting there to see what options or suggestions they can provide. Each Roku TV manufacturer provides direct support and warranty services for their products running the Roku OS.
On that note, if you deal with Curtis International, the warranty contact, keep good notes and stay on them. They sent me around in circles for FIVE months. I eventually got my refund because I just didn't stop contacting them, but they were awful. I'll never buy another RCA tv.
I have a blank white screen, no error message, on some websites in Firefox (after upgrading) but can access those sites fine in Safari.I have tried to follow some advice seen in the forums but not yet found the answer.
Following your suggestion I started Firefox in Safe Mode. However I could not find Use Hardware Acceleration in Advanced / General (3 Accessibility options: cursor keys to navigate, search for text when typing, warn on website redirection; and 3 Browsing options: autoscrolling, smooth scrolling, spelling) or any other tab under Advanced.
Perhaps a linked symptom: I went to sign into google mail (to verify this question!) - the google mail sign in page came up, I could enter my email address, but clicking the "Next" button did nothing. Again I can do the exact same thing in Safari without a problem.
Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the buttonon the right side called Show Cookies. Use thesearch bar to look for the site.Note; There may be more than one entry.Remove All of them.
My roku device is making my tv screen black and white. Netflix Hulu and YouTube are all black and white. Roku home screen is black and white. When turned to cable, the tv has color.
how do I fix this?
I fixed issue by unplugging used composite connections to free them up then moved around connections until I got it working. I had a friend watching the screen while I fiddled with the connections until it worked
You can also go into the settings and there is an option for "Restart", which will reboot the TV and bring it back to its normal colors on the home screen/menu etc. This is NOT the reset to default/factory...So make sure you use the "Restart".
I had the same problem with a Roku Streaming Stick +. I tried multiple interventions as noted above and elsewhere
including power cycle, restart, checking TV color settings, alternative HDMI input, factory reset, etc., none of which
worked. I reported this information to Roku support and they agreed with my guess at a hardware problem. After
determining that my device was 3 months out of warranty they suggested that I purchase a new unit on Roku's website.
Obviously not what I was hoping for. After purchasing a new unit (at Best Buy on sale), I turned the old one on one
more time and low and behold it was back to normal color. I watched a whole movie without problems. My best guess
as to why is over heating. I usually had the unit powered from a wall plug, and one of the last things I had tried
was switching to TV USB power, which made no immediate difference. With TV USB power the Roku device powers off when
the TV is turned off, rather than always being on with wall power. A guess is that being off for a longer period
allowed cooling down and returning to normal function. Who knows how long it will last, but it is one more thing to
try. Note there will be some delay for Rokut Stick to power back on, but worth it if it keeps working.
I'm using 64-bit ubuntu 12.04LTS on my laptop a sony vaio e-series dual-booting it alongside windows 8.1... i use google chrome but my problem is that sometimes when i watch youtube videos when i go fullscreen and revert it back the whole screen becomes white, but i can still hear sounds, is there any way to solve this?
For whatever it might be worth. The white screen of death as I call it, is due to Chrome trying to use hardware acceleration.Go to chrome://settings/ (type it in the address bar) and show advanced settings. Under System, uncheck "use hardware acceleration when available" and then restart.Good luck.
Just purchased a new tv. Hisense A6. Built in Chromecast. Any time I cast from my phone the screen turns white. Sound still comes out but no picture. Tried hard reset router reset, different apps. Nothing seems to work. Tv functions fine otherwise. Am I missing something here? Very frustrating
I'm having the same issue. Only getting a blank white screen for any chromecast stream from my Macbook to my new Hisense tv. Have tried clearing cache, etc. to no avail. Is there a bug they need to fix with an update?
Hi. I have a new Hisense U6G and have the same problem here. It generally seems to start when I attempt to cast HBO Max (which I'm only doing to circumvent the well-known EAC3-to-stereo downmixing issue that makes the HBO app on the TV unlistenable, for which I've already got a case escalated to Tier 2 support), but persists until I clear the TV's internal Chromecast data/cache and unplug th e TV and have it boot up again. (I haven't tried just disconnecting the power and having the TV reboot from there without cleaning out the Chromecast app data/cache first yet.) I also found that, after going through this process and casting HBO Max to the TV, the frame rate of the resulting video was horrible and I had to revert to using an old hardware Chromecast instead. I hope this issue is fixed soon. (Between this and the other audio issue, I'm not sure we'll even want to keep the TV, which is a shame as it's really quite good for the price otherwise.)
Maybe you should setup your Google PlayStore application to automatically update your device applications, because, sometimes, if it's set to update manually, people tend to forget checking for available application updates.
Thanks very much for checking in. The software update seems to have fixed the white-screen issue. Unfortunately, however, casting HBO Max to the internal Chromecast results in very choppy video. (I haven't had a chance to check this with other apps like Netflix or YouTube yet, but those others work just fine internally on the TV itself.) As a result, I'm still stuck with using an old external Chromecast device to watch HBO Max, as the app running natively on the TV has severe stereo-downmixing issues with the EAC3 audio the app uses (though the video looks fine) and the TV's internal Chromecast now has this annoying stutter/judder issue. I have escalated a case to Tier 2 support at Hisense on both issues as well, but I'd really like to be sure we can watch HBO Max without resorting to tying up an external hardware device to do so.
I'm glad to hear that the initial issue was fixed! I'll leave the thread open in the event that Hisense gets back to you with any developments regarding that HBO Max issue, as well as to hear back from OP on the status of this issue on their end.
Thanks for checking back in. Hisense customer support has become non-responsive and I'm still seeing the judder/stutter issue now (on the internal Chromecast), but the original white-screen problem seems to be fully resolved by the app update.
Between the TV's inability to properly downmix EAC3 audio from apps (HBO Max and Showtime Anytime as well I've found) and the internal Chromecast having the video judder/stutter issue, things remain rather frustrating and I've had to keep an old external Chromecast on hand to watch anything on these services.
Of course! I'm sorry to hear that they haven't been getting back to you on this issue, although understandable if they have a backlog of issues they need to get to. Did you have anything we could address here, or should I go ahead and lock up the thread for now?
To be honest, I haven't tried casting to the TV's internal Chromecast anymore, as it just seemed problematic in general. Still no return call from Hisense Tier 2 (it's now been eight days) either. In the interim, I decided to bite the bullet and pick up a Roku Express 4K+ to get around these remaining issues. Given that the initial problem in this thread (white screen casting) seems to be resolved, however, please feel free to lock up this thread whenever you'd like.
No problem at all, I'm glad you found a solution that works for you. Since we haven't heard back from Dwyer1213, I'll go ahead and lock up the thread. If you have any questions or concerns in the future, feel free to create a new thread.
Have a really random and strange issue on my 55xh9005 and it's really hard to explain but I'll try. Unfortunately I can't take a pic of the issue either as it's really random and is literally a quick flash.
