This article addresses a deployment approach that uses Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT). You can also apply this information to other deployment methodologies. On most types of Surface devices, the keyboard should work during Lite Touch Installation (LTI). However, Surface Laptop requires some extra drivers to enable the keyboard. For Surface Laptop (1st Gen) and Surface Laptop 2 devices, you must prepare the folder structure and selection profiles that allow you to specify keyboard drivers for use during the Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) phase of LTI. For more information about this folder structure, see Deploy a Windows 10 image using MDT: Step 5: Prepare the drivers repository.

Extract the contents of the Surface Laptop .msi file to a folder that you can easily locate (for example, c:\surface_laptop_drivers). To extract the contents, open an elevated Command Prompt window and run the command from the following example:

The Samsung Update app allows you to download and install recommended apps and drivers for your Samsung PC. It is usually preinstalled on Samsung PCs, but you can download it from the Microsoft Store if you don't see it.

In most cases, your model will automatically be detected and the list of apps and drivers will indicate what is or is not up to date. Otherwise, enter your PC's model number in the Search bar, and then choose the appropriate software version, such as Windows 11 or Windows 10 v20H2.

On your PC, select Start, and then select Settings. Select Update & Security or Windows Update, and then select Check for updates. If Windows finds updates, they will download and install automatically. In some cases, drivers may be considered an optional update, but it's recommended to install them.

Updating the drivers for your Samsung PC can be done through either Samsung Update or Windows Update. However, getting drivers for any external devices you connect to your PC is also important. Windows Update may offer these drivers as well, but may mark them as optional.

If the external device or component you are connecting happens to also be made by Samsung, such as a monitor, you may find drivers for it from our Download Center. If drivers are not available from the Download Center, then available drivers from Samsung Update and Windows Update can be used, or the drivers built-in to Windows may be sufficient.

Devices or components made by manufacturers other than Samsung may offer drivers directly from their site. See Microsoft's help article for how to install and update drivers for additional information.

Although this program limits the number of downloads you can perform per day, you can still check for outdated drivers as often as you want. You're just limited when it comes to downloading them. I talk more in the review about why this isn't as bad of a limit as it might sound.

I ended up having to use an external keyboard during installation and keep it attached until I could run Windows Update. It installed all the missing drivers and this thing is almost working normally. One problem remains which is that the keyboard has a behavior like as if it is "going to sleep" after just a few seconds. It's the craziest thing and boy is it annoying.

Have you successfully installed windows to a Surface with this process before? My understanding was you needed a specific image for Surface devices that you have to download based on the exact model you're working with. The last time I had to reimage a Surface I made my USB using these instructions Opens a new window.

How frustrating. Reading about the Surface 4's it appears that the drivers are specific. -us/surface-recovery-image Opens a new window If you want to use a standard Windows iso then you will have to see what the hardware is for keyboard, trackpad and touchscreen and add the drivers to the iso. You can use Ventoy on a USB stick to add the iso to and that will boot on all.

Incidentally, I was just on a Surface Laptop 2 Friday and it had been automatically updated to 11 and there are NO drivers for 11. The video did not work properly (no dual display; which was the incident) and there were about 10 devices in device manager with no drivers. Microsoft's website has 0 drivers for 11 for those devices as well. Only 10.

We use Surface 4 laptops and have for the last year. We image them all the time and installing regular enterprise winders works, but you gotta do a bunch of updates shortly thereafter. We eventually reimaged after the updates were done.

Anyway, GPT, and UEFI and you gotta get into the bios which on the Surface I think is you press power and hold the volume up (yes its the same on the laptop as it is the Pro model, just the volume up button is on the keybord). I am typing to you on a Surface Book 2, so I know my surface devices well, yes I'm a fanboy (sorry Apple folks, the Surface is an equivalent quality product).

Look for graphics card drivers that mention manufacturer names related to graphics components, such as Intel Graphics, NVIDIA, or AMD Graphics. You may see these in the main view or under the Optional Updates category. If you see one of these graphics card drivers, click on the Install button and wait for the installation to complete.

Keeping your drivers updated boosts performance by speeding up your PC and optimizing your system for gaming and other higher intensity tasks. By the same token, failing to update graphics drivers can result in sluggish and glitchy performance. Outdated drivers are also a security risk, because they leave your computer vulnerable to hackers.

AVG Driver Updater will perform a complete system scan and alert you if it finds any outdated drivers. After the scan is complete, click Update Selected to update all your old drivers at once.

On Windows PCs, there are two ways to update your drivers on your own. The first is to use the built-in Windows Update service, which handles updates for your OS and various Microsoft programs, along with driver updates for a range of popular hardware. You can also take a more surgical approach through the Device Manager utility and update your drivers one by one.

Older drivers can struggle with newer software, especially modern video games and complex editing software like Photoshop or video production apps. If your computer is having a hard time keeping up, the fix may be as simple as updating your graphics driver.

Sometimes, GPU manufacturers even use drivers to add completely new technology to their products. For instance, Nvidia recently introduced DLSS (deep learning super sampling) technology that uses AI to simulate high-resolution graphics without suffering performance slowdowns.

I am trying to figure out who is responsible for the graphics drivers on my asus laptop. I have contacted Intel they told me the manufacturer is responsible for the drivers. Then the manufacturer told me microsoft is responsible for the drivers. My question is who is really responsible for the drivers on the laptop the manufacturer, intel or microsoft?

If after BIOS restoration and EC reset, the touchpad is functional in the BIOS/UEFI screen but becomes inoperative upon entering the Windows system, please proceed to the next section to update the BIOS and drivers.

Please go to the ASUS support site to download and install the following drivers. Here you can learn more about How to search and download drivers. (The following pictures are the current version as a reference, please download the latest version from the ASUS Support Site.)

I follow the instructions to configure the target from Visual Studio Community 2015 on the laptop. It creates and opens a WDKRemoteUser account on the target. The host then reports that it cannot create C:\DriverText\Setup and the provisioning fails.
