The spicy piquin pepper recipe of Cholula along with citrus juices helps complement the raw, natural flavor of 100% agave tequila. Current day recipes often mistakenly include tomato in the recipes to achieve the classic red color.

However, this is not authentic to the original sangrita drink. The red color originally came from hot pepper powder. To try an authentic sangrita, mix up some Cholula with orange juice, grapefruit juice, and lime juice. Cheers!

Sources are difficult to verify, but it has been rumored that the woman on the Cholula bottle represents Camila Harrison. She was the head of the family responsible for the original Cholula recipe in Chapala, Jalisco. The recipe was developed around 100 years ago and was not brought to the USA until 1989.

Aside from the lady, the label is artistically Mexican. It shows off the colors of the Mexican flag around the border with a bright yellow background. There is also the iconic wooden cap that helps Cholula stand apart from other hot sauce brands.

Cholula hot sauce is Gluten Free, Kosher, sugar free, and vegan. They also claim that the sauce is low sodium, however, this can be subjective. At 110mg of sodium per tsp, you may want to go light on the sauce if you are watching your sodium intake.

Using hot sauce in cooking can be your secret ingredient in home cooking. Your friends and family might ask how you made that dip taste so good, or what is in these deviled eggs?! Here are some great recipes using Cholula hot sauce from around the internet.

While Cholula could easily become the only sauce you ever need, it shines on Mexican food and spicy breakfast. The flavor is potent even in small dashes, so even a small 5oz bottle will go a long way. If you do intend to use a lot of Cholula, you can buy 12oz or even 64oz (half-gallon) containers on Amazon.

One of the spicier Cholula flavors, Sweet Habanero brings together the tropical flavor of pineapple with the fiery heat of Habaneros. A great alternative for making tangy wings or spicing up bland pizza.

Strong smokiness is the name of the game for this sauce. Chipotle peppers are simple smokey red ripened jalapeno peppers, and they come through strong. The sauce also uses the piquin and arbol peppers found in the original, but the flavor is much smokier and sweeter. Great for making finger-licking ribs or for smoking up grilled chicken.

Cholula was created by Cuca Hernandez, who gave her recipe to the Sanchez family that created Viuda de Sanchez (the hot sauce that Cholula is based upon). The Sanchez family sold the rights of the brand to Cuervo in the 90s.

Ron C. Slawek is the creator of Pig Chaser BBQ Sauces which he started in 2005 after his wife told him to follow his sauce dreams! Almost 20 years later the brand is stronger than ever! Unlike other bbq sauces out on the market these are not doctored-up flavors, using other sauces to create something unique, Pig Chaser bbq sauce is great-tasting period. Pigchaser bbq sauce are family recipes created from scratch. That is a fact.

These bbq sauces go great on ribs, chicken, brisket, burgers, beef sandwiches, pork chops, seafood, as a marinade, or in a dip. Pig Chaser Pineapple/Mango can be used on Easter hams and Thanksgiving turkeys as a glaze or on cakes or desserts. Pig Chaser Bacon BBQ Sauce tastes great on baked or twice baked potatoes, chili-cheese fries, burgers, mixed in with your deviled-eggs, mixed with cream cheese for a cracker spread, or even on a turkey club sandwich. Magna bbq sauce gets hotter after you open it too.

Pigchaser got its name inn 2005 when Ron was in Tucson on business. Arriving later, Ron was hungry and thirsty so bought a burger and concentrated more on eating the burger than on missing his exit. An hour later after a few turns, his headlights caught a small animal running across the road. It was a pig! After getting to his hotel, that same little pig was trotting in the parking lot not far from where I parked. I chased after the pig, down a hiking path into the desert. After telling my story to my new friends, my co-workers calling me "Pigchaser" and the brand was born!

Pigchaser, a line of five barbecue sauces created by Ron Slawek in 2007, has represented ups and downs so far. First I thought Pineapple/Mango delivered on fruit, but not much in the way of barbecue flavor. Then the Habanero wowed me with its great heat and balance of sweet and tangy. What's most distinct about this is that Ron is actually tailoring each sauce to its unique defining characteristic. So often sauce companies take a lazy approach and do things like throwing additional pepper into their original sauce and calling it "hot," leaving only minor differences between recipes. The Pigchaser approach of building a unique sauce around a base ingredient makes things much more interesting, and has kept me wanting to try every variation in the line with more enthusiasm than usual. In that mindset, I tackled this Bacon BBQ Sauce, which combines two things I love so much.

Pigchaser Bacon starts with a sweet, tangy, and fruity aroma. The distinct smell of honey mixes equally with vinegar to form the base, while a less intense pineapple serves as an undertone. The presence of bacon is known mainly from the sauce's smokiness. There are faint notes of onion in there as well.

First taste is of an overly sweetened ketchup. Honey is the most dominant flavor, with tomato close behind. The tang of vinegar quickly comes in and balances out the sweetness, and as the sauce settles on the tongue, tastes of pineapple, onion, and garlic make an appearance. The bacon bits are large and plentiful, giving the sauce a meaty and smoky flavor, as well as a chunky texture. The bacon is not crisp, but soft, making this the first sauce I've ever had to chew.

Bacon = awesome. Barbecue = awesome. So bacon barbecue sauce should equal double awesome, right? That's what I would think, but they may not be a match made in heaven. Pigchaser bacon has a nice, balanced sweet tomato barbecue sauce base, and while the bacon adds a decent smokiness without the use of acrid liquid smoke, the soft and chewy pieces of bacon were not pleasing in the way crisp, crunchy bacon bits are. The flavor wasn't bad though, and the idea is commendable. If you really love bacon-anything, it's worth giving this sauce a try. If you want to get the most out of the bacon flavor, it's best to use it as a condiment since there were fewer bacon pieces to be had after being cooked due to them being more spread out and some falling off. I think spread on top of a juicy burger would be the ideal use for this sauce.

Now that makes three Pigchaser sauces I've reviewed, each with their own unique flavors and levels of successfulness. This pattern only makes more excited to see what the last two I have to try will bring.

Ron You've never had a BLT? It has mayo. With all the other bbq sauce recipes out there why not bacon? It may not be a slam-dunk to you but it's my biggest seller.Posted Sat, Dec 31 2016 2:58PM

We enjoyed them both, but probably preferred the Chilies and Peppers version a little more due to the celery seed and horseradish flavorings. The Habanero Chipotle had that smoky flavor and was a little spicier.

Bacon Bitch has locations in the major Florida cities and is known for its variety of breakfast sandwiches and fun beverages. They basically serve brunch all day every day. Of note, one of their signature drinks is the Hangover Bitch:

This Bloody Mary was spicy, but not too spicy. It had a nice flavor to it and I thought what really complemented it the most was the beer selection. I am a Seinfeld fan and chose my chaser purely on its name, but I was pleasantly surprised. I am not the biggest fan of beer there is (weird, I know, being from Wisconsin), but I do enjoy tasting it and chaser from makes it easy and fun.

Last week, I was honored to be hosted for a round of golf at Tuckaway Country Club in Franklin, Wisconsin. We had a great time playing and carried the conversation over to the lovely patio for a couple of post-round beverages.

While there was nothing unique about these bloodies, like airports, there is just something about bloodies on the golf course that hit different. As such, these bloodies were very tasty and went down easily.

We recently visited Eldr + Rime located in the Renaissance Hotel near Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. On Saturdays and Sundays, they offer a fabulous brunch from 9am-2pm, which includes Bloody Mary as well as other libation specials.

Earlier this summer, we went to see Jack Johnson perform at Northerly Island in Chicago. It was a fun getaway and, before we hopped the train back to Wisconsin the next morning, we popped over to Honey Berry Cafe for brunch.

Seeing as we had just seen Jack Johnson, I had to order the Banana Pancakes as my side (IYKYK). They actually had three varieties of banana pancakes alone, so I went with the Chocolate Chip ones. Again delicious, like everything else.

Yay! Another decent Bloody Mary spot in the Milwaukee area! We were out for a stroll one Saturday morning down North Avenue in Wauwatosa and decided to pop into Drunken Cobra to grab a bite and a beverage.

Earlier this summer, we were honored to be hosted for a round of golf at Blue Mound Golf and Country Club in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. It was a hot day spent on the links and the cold bloody on the patio afterwards was oh-so-refreshing.

Blue Mound is a private club, so it will be hard to get another one of these, but if I have the chance again, I will jump at it! And, if you ever find yourself as lucky as I was to be on this course, be sure to stop at the 19th hole for one of these!
