Dear UAI community,

Dr. Qingchu Jin has recently joined the Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM), MaineHealth Institute for Research, USA, as a Faculty Scientist (Assistant Professor–equivalent). He is expected to hold an academic appointment as Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine (pending finalization) and serves as an Affiliated Faculty member at both the University of Maine and Northeastern University. His research focuses on developing artificial intelligence methods for healthcare and computational biology, with an emphasis on translating advanced machine learning approaches into clinically impactful applications.

Dr. Jin’s lab works at the intersection of artificial intelligence, clinical research and biology, with the goal of building robust, safe, and interpretable AI models to understand and predict complex health trajectories.

Key research directions include:

  • Modeling longitudinal and irregular time-series clinical data (e.g., electronic health records, high-frequency waveforms)
  • Integration of multi-omics data (methylation, metabolomics, transcriptomics, microbiome)
  • Prediction of clinical outcomes and disease trajectories (e.g., surgical outcomes, childhood growth and obesity)
  • Development of uncertainty-aware machine learning frameworks

The lab is embedded in a highly collaborative environment with access to large-scale clinical datasets, multi-center cohorts, and ongoing translational research programs, providing strong opportunities for both methodological innovation and real-world clinical impact.

Open Positions

The lab is seeking highly motivated candidates with interests in translational AI projects in healthcare, computational biology, or related fields, who are eager to work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative setting.
