Dear colleagues,
We are looking for candidates interested in pursuing a PhD in AI and Digital Health at the Modeling & Intelligent Control Engineering Laboratory (MICELAB), University of Girona. Our team works at the intersection of control engineering, artificial intelligence, and biomedical research, developing models and intelligent systems to better understand and support human health.
The position is linked to the Synulin AI project, which focuses on developing intelligent digital health technologies for diabetes management. The PhD topic will focus on the design and development of AI-based methods for personalised diabetes coaching and decision support.
The selected candidate will work on approaches for integrating patient-specific data, including continuous glucose monitoring, insulin records, food intake, and other monitoring streams. The objective is to develop intelligent tools capable of supporting personalised recommendations, proactive glycaemic alerts, and adaptive lifestyle coaching in a clinically grounded and safe manner.
The research may involve topics such as machine learning for digital health, deep generative models, large language models, retrieval-augmented methods, AI agents, time-series analysis, clinical safety constraints, and integration with digital twin models and digital health platforms.
We are looking for candidates with a background in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Health Informatics, or related fields. Strong programming skills in Python and experience or interest in deep learning, time-series data analysis, biomedical AI, or intelligent decision-support systems will be valued.
The selected candidate will be offered a competitive salary through a scholarship or equivalent funded research contract and will join an interdisciplinary research environment with access to advanced computing infrastructure and collaborations in digital health and diabetes technology.
Interested candidates should send their CV and academic transcripts (including average grades) as soon as possible to: micelab...@gmail.com
