Dear all,

For the Amsterdam Center for AI and Health, a joint center of the Amsterdam UMC and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, we are looking for a coordinator (fixed term contract for 3 years). The application deadline is February 18th. Please find the details of the position below.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is often seen as a potential gamechanger for healthcare to address the many challenges the domain faces in the decades to come. When considering the current status quo, however, AI has only penetrated healthcare practice in a very modest way. To improve the development and adoption of AI techniques in the domain of healthcare, research from various angles is needed: from more fundamental algorithmic improvement to implementation research, and from ethics to clinical evaluation of the added value of AI. Amsterdam UMC and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) have all the required expertise to shape and execute such a research agenda, brought together in the Amsterdam Center for AI and Health. The center brings together over 70 top scientists in all relevant areas with the ultimate goal to bring AI techniques into clinical practice to the benefit of both patient and healthcare professionals.

We are looking for an overall coordination of the center. The key responsibilities include:

  • initiating and organizing network activities, such as seminars, matchmaking events and summer schools;
  • supporting the preparation of research proposals to secure future funding for the center and its networks;
  • developing and maintaining relationships with companies that contribute to the center’s activities;
  • supporting members of the management team with collecting information and reporting on network activities;
  • initiating actions to expand the networks and increase national and international visibility.

You bring:

  • a PhD degree, preferably at the intersection of AI and health;
  • experience with organizing scientific meetings or network activities;
  • experience with attracting research funding, individually or in collaboration;
  • strong networking and communication skills;
  • a proactive and structured way of working.

Best regards,

Mark
