Hi all,

Some of you may know that a Tucson business owner has decided to make
anti-Asian mockery the focus of his advertising. Michael Reynolds owns
Eggrolls Etc <http://www.eggrollsetc.com/> . The ad for Eggrolls Etc.
is filled with statements offensive to Asian Americans: "Every order is
delivered via rickshaw by first generation Chinese immigrants . . . We
really should charge more, old Chinamen are getting expensive these
days." Under the "Fried Rice" menu item is the following comment:
"Don't say flied lice, it's not funny . . . there's no R sound in
Chinese . . . that's just cruel really . . . I know your saying it . . .
Stop It Stop It Stop It!! That's it. NO RICE FOR YOU." The menu also
states: "Disclaimer: All offensive accounts, misrepresentations or
misspellings contained herein were intentional." (He owns another
restaurant, Canal St. Pizzaria, the advertisement for which offers a
coupon for "Mussolini's Pizza Fingers," which is also featured on the
menu. Mussolini, of course, is responsible for the killing of thousands
of American soldiers and Italian Jews, so he is the wrong choice for a
person to honor.)

Although Michael Reynolds has been written to and called many times, he
is unwilling to discuss his advertising.

Jason Wong of the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center has arranged a press
conference for Wednesday, May 16, at 10:00 a.m. at the Center, 1228 W.
River Road. I will be there, and I hope some of you will be also.
