Details:
Orientation Tabling
In the interest of letting the incoming LGBT students know they are not alone, we set up a table at the student organization fair and smile even when people glare. Fun, fun, fun! Please come help welcome the freshman class of 2012/2013, and let them know we are here, and they are not alone! to sign up, go to http://www.uabgssa.org/orientation-table-sign-up

Birmingham Museum of Art
According to Birmingham Museum of Art employee Becky Lee, the museum is making a special effort to reach out to the LGBT community.
She has invited the GSSA to come, and I think it would be a GREAT GSSA group activity.
Thursday, June 7, 2012 ~ 5:00-9:00 P.M. (*drop in / come & go as your schedule permits*)
FREE parking and FREE admittance!
Come and explore the many treasures! All the galleries will be open, including a display of art from India.
NON-flash photography is permitted.
Curator Emily Hannah will share her knowledge of the Intuit people at 6:00 P.M. (about 30-40 minutes).
The film in the auditorium at 7:00 P.M. is "Martha of the North" (about 45-60 minutes)."This is a special after hours event; the museum usually closes at 5:00 P.M.  But because some folks can't make it to the museum during the day, we welcome you to come see what's going on during events like this. On the First Thursday of every month folks gather to enjoy the treasures and special exhibits the museum is hosting.  There are gourmet foods served buffet style for only $12 at Oscar's Cafe. Movies and/or lectures in the auditorium, and special guided tours of the galleries are also possible...sometimes led by our very own Museum Director. So please come join us in the cafe and kick back and relax with new friends, old friends, and lots of wonderful treasures that make their home in our (your) museum!"

A coalition of Alabama LGBTA student organizations is going to march together, and possibly do something fun afterward. We did this two years ago, and it was great. Make sure you bring plenty of water, it is a long time out in the heat, but well worth it. :)
