Texas HHSC is seeking a highly experienced Systems Analyst / Senior Java EE Developer to analyze legacy enterprise applications, document business and technical requirements, and support modernization efforts. The analyst will work across technical and business teams to evaluate existing Java EE systems—including EJB, JPA, SOAP services—and contribute to migration strategies toward cloud-native, modular architectures.
Responsibilities include reviewing and documenting current system behavior, identifying transformation paths, evaluating architectural dependencies, and participating in application rationalization. The analyst will assist with cloud migration planning, microservices/API design alignment, and leveraging AI-based code analysis tools to extract business logic and identify technical debt. This role requires strong collaboration with architects, business analysts, and modernization teams.
The position demands 12+ years of hands-on Java/Java EE experience, including expertise with legacy components, enterprise application servers, object-relational mapping, and integration layers. Candidates must have extensive experience working in cross-functional technical environments, strong understanding of DevSecOps and Agile, and deep analytical skills. Experience with AI code analysis tools, requirements documentation, and modernization initiatives is required.
