On my u-IEC SD I went to delete a Wheels.USR file and it would not delete.

All my u-IEC would do is report:  "Device not found"  but with Jiffy Dos I could
do the Control-D and cycle through all of my Setup's disk drives:
C= 128DCR, (internal 1571 removed, has switch installed to turn off internal 1571:  Al Anger Hack)..
I dont mind this alteration for the 128DCR so as all of my serial drives work and Im happy.
CMD HD: DEV#8
CMD FD-2000: DEV#9
1571 DEV#10 (has Jiffy Dos Rom installed)
u-IECSD: Dev#11

With Jiffy Dos I delete with:  @S: "filename",11

Standard C= DOS:  OPEN,15,11,15,"S:"filename":CLOSE15

I reformatted the SD card and now scratching files etc works okay, I was
just curious if the formatting process for the SD just doesnt quite format
like it should or something else.

Also: does the u-IEC  let you hot swap the SD card, or is it if you remove
the card you would have to reseat the card first, and then reset the computer
and then the card can be read okay.

The reason I mention this is before I first fired up my 128D I made sure the
SD card was seated in place and then fired everything up, and turning on
all of my drives in the right order too.

Just thought this may be worth mentioning or just getting used to
using the u-IEC, and maybe its just the operator still learning. :)

Thanks all,

Terry Raymond

I can't help with your actual matter, but it seems you got a few typos in
there. It might be a matter of you typing a few characters too much, but
just to be sure:

OPEN 15,11,15,"S:filename":CLOSE 15

Notice no comma between OPEN and the first argument, and no extra quote
between S: and the filename.

Also, one reason why a file can't be deleted is if it is protected. I don't
know if that was the case with your Wheels USR file, but it should display
in a directory with a less-than symbol < to the right of the USR file type.
For protected files, one first has to issue a command to remove the
protection, then the delete command.

Best regards

Hi there Anders,

Oh yea my typing is terrible. :)

Yep the particular Wheels filename did have the  "<" character after the filename
and I had forgotten that about Commodore Dos, thanks, helps to read the
manuals to the 1541 or 1571 or CMD devices to remember all of this.

Terry

I created a cheat sheet for uIEC/JiffyDOS. This JiffyDOS come really handy and has a higher transfer rate.
