U2's
in town and doing whatever it can to help those in need
By JANE STEVENSON -- Toronto Sun U2 guitarist The Edge says the band's
last-minute involvement in two Hurricane Katrina TV fundraisers over
the weekend was a no-brainer.
The Irish rockers, who arrived in Toronto early Friday to begin
rehearsals at the Air Canada Centre leading up to tomorrow's launch of
the second leg of their North American tour, taped two performances at
the venue later that day for Friday's multi-channel Shelter From The
Storm broadcast and last night's MTV ReactNow special.

NEW
YORK (AP) — With the flood waters of Katrina yet to recede, Randy
Newman sang about a long-ago hurricane in Louisiana 1927 to open a
benefit program spread across dozens of television networks Friday.
Dr. John ended a show suffused with the spirit of a musical city singing a song that's only a wish now: Walkin' to New Orleans.
The hour-long appeal was an echo of a somber event held four years ago
to benefit victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack, with the same
producer. This time, the telethon had more determination than shock and
featured native jazz, gospel and swamp-rock sounds.

U2 rocker BONO is an embarrassing dad and likes to sing boyband hits while driving his kids to school.
The singer's wife, ALI HEWSON, claims he loves making the couple's two sons and two daughters blush.
She says, "When he drops them off at school, he jumps on the bonnet and sings WESTLIFE songs.
"They're like, 'Dad, get in the car! Someone will see you.'"

The wife of Irish rock legend BONO always feared his band's success would split up their marriage.
The U2 frontman met his future spouse ALI HEWSON when he was just 13,
but when the BEAUTIFUL DAY hitmakers were propelled to stardom she
worried that it could spell the end of their relationship.

realistic about the temptations he faces as a famous musician.
Svelte mother-of-four ALI HEWSON admits "there was a lot of stuff going

Hello,
Summer may be coming to an end but the campaign to make poverty history certainly is not.
Less than a week from now, hundreds of world leaders will meet
in New York for the UN World Summit. It's a chance for them to build on
the progress already made in 2005 and go much further in the fight
against poverty.
