I'm replying to the entire group.  Everyone has to register on the new platform.  We could not upload all the emails at once into it.

If you are a member of the Google Group you wont be able to post at some pt buy you can still access the files section.  We would appreciate everyone's help in uploading your presets to the appropriate subform in the new forum (under the right song).

Thx.

Thx, michael. I have one question though, do I have to register if i'm already a member of the old group? And what about the preset page of the google group, did you migrate it into the new forum page?

You are being invited to the new U2 Guitar Tutorials Forum and Blog.  If you have already registered on the new forum, please ignore this email.

PLEASE READ THE 10 BULLETS BELOW before you go to the link below and register:

1) EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN BLOG PAGE!!  You are welcome to post anything about U2 on your blog; however, please keep all forum threads (non-blog) discussions focused on learning U2 songs (tech, tones and tunes).  We have created a specific thread structure to support the main theme.  There is also a "cafe" for off topic discussions.  Do NOT use blogs to discuss non-U2 topics (e.g., politics, religion, economics, etc.).  Administrators reserve the right to delete any blog posts.

2) Please take a few minutes to read the forum etiquette and rules page right after you register.  Seriously, please do read them so we don't have to remove posts or members!

3) PLEASE use tags when publishing your blogs and posting comments.  Note the Tag Cloud on a few pages in the sidebars.  The most prevalent tags used throughout the platform are in larger fonts in the tag cloud.  This is a great feature that makes it easy to focus on the most popular topics.  Click on a tag in the tag cloud and you will get every post with that tag.  So if everyone uses tags, it makes it easier for everyone else to search.  We all have to add tags to the content to make the cloud useful.  PLEASE contribute to this effort!  The tag cloud doesn't currently generate many search results because there is no content yet.

4) SEARCH FOR THREADS ON YOUR TOPIC BEFORE CREATING A NEW THREAD.  DON'T BE LAZY!  We invested a lot of time to create the thread structure, but we also tried to keep it flexible so that everyone can post new discussions.  Someone may have already asked your question and there may be a thread on the topic.  Do an advanced search or use the tag cloud.  Try to add to existing threads.  If you are only looking to respond to questions and review latest topics (similar to the Google Groups forum), just go to one of the links that shows you the most recent posts:  "What's New?" or "Today's Posts".  You will see all the recents posts at these links from across all threads.  If you regularly use the "What's New" or "Today's Posts" functions, then make sure you understand which thread you are replying to.  Don't hijack a thread and change the topic.  The administrators have the right to delete or move your new thread WITHOUT WARNING if we are sure the topic already exists.  The more organized the forum, the better it will be for everyone.

5) Please post all topics related to a particular song in one of the sub-forums under each song name.  If you want to ask about a delay setting or what gear to use for a song, go to that particular song's forums.  But if you want to talk about gear in general (e.g., what delay is better?, how does the analog delay sound on the Axe?, what do you think of this new delay? etc.), then go to the other general forums.  Don't ask about Street's delay setting under Pride and don't ask about what gear is used for Pride in the general forum, etc. Again, administrators have the right to move or delete your post if you are lazy and hi-jack threads or post in the wrong area.

6) Any email address will be accepted as a member; however, the administrators maintain the right to restrict or ban anyone at anytime (we don't expect this to happen of course, but we need to maintain this right since we have no idea who will be registering over time).

7) We will be closing U2_Guitar_Tutorials on Google Groups in the next few days.  Please move all your discussions to the new forum starting immediately.

8) Post constructive feedback, bugs and suggestions regarding the forum itself in the appropriate thread that we set up for this purpose.

9) I would like to acknowledge David Nia again for building the original www.u2guitartutorials.com website for no monetary compensation and also contributing to the backtrack solution that has been included in the new forum (you won't see the non-public thread unless you are a registered member).  The backtrack solution is experimental and we reserve the right to change or remove it at any time.  You will need a password to access the backtracks.  The password will be changed on occasion.  Please DO NOT share the password publicly.  Please NO NOT post the password on any threads in the forum.  Please DO NOT ask for the password on a public thread.  Contact an administrator for the password.

10) Last but not least, please thank Tim Hines from the UK for spending many hours helping me build and configure this new forum for no monetary compensation (he built out most of the thread structure).  Tim contributed his time for the same reason we spend so much time on this forum:  the passion for understanding and experiencing Edge's music

So without further delay, U2GT presents.........

There will likely be delays in the registration process as we get a large volume of registration requests.  When we tested the site, it sometimes took up to 30 minutes to receive a confirmation email from the system.  Please be patient with us.  We will accept/approve all registrations right away, but sometimes the system email is slow to respond.

Tim published the new forum on Tapatalk.  You can find it in a search.  I just logged on and it works great!

I wonder how many people (especially since this is truly an
international forum) had to google "on the john" to get a
translation. That's an idiom if ever I've seen one. (Note to self -
never borrow Karsten's mobile).
