Hi Monica,

I would be happy for U of T Friends of Wisdom ( http://uoftfriendsofwisdom.tk ) to support and work with Toronto.350/350.org.

Thank you for offering to promote our events.
Two series of events that we're planning on organizing are: a monthly* seminar/symposium/meeting devoted to discussing what our global problems are and how they are to be solved, and a reading group focused on wisdom and wisdom-inquiry**.
I think that both of these upcoming series hold huge potential for collaborative partnership between our groups, since the climate crisis is tied in to many high priority global problems, and since there's a recently written book that members of both organizations might be interested in discussing, namely, The God Species - How Humans Really Can Save the Planet, by Mark Lynas. This book is very relevant to 350.org's goal. It also seems to me that The God Species is an example of - or accords with - wisdom-inquiry.

Would Toronto.350 or 350.org be interested in joining the Wisdom-Inquiry Network? ( http://www.ucl.ac.uk/win/win-news-publication/seekingmembers , http://www.ucl.ac.uk/win ).

Please feel free to join and email our Google Group and the Friends of Wisdom mailing list.

The Facebook page is at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Friends-of-Wisdom/355734991141941.

*For at least those months when there isn't another U of T seminar, symposium, or conference geared towards tackling global issues, e.g. the crisis prevention and recovery conference this month ( http://undpuoft-crisispreventionandrecoveryconference.eventbrite.com/# ) and the sustainability conference next month ( http://sustainable-engineers.org/seac/ ).

**See http://www.ucl.ac.uk/from-knowledge-to-wisdom/essays/from for a short description of wisdom-inquiry.

Great to hear from you, and thanks again.

Hello there ,
my name is Monica Resendes, and I'm a member of the Toronto.350 U of T student group. I wanted to write to reach out and perhaps make some useful connections with Friends of Wisdom.

If you didn't already know, 350.org is a network of many different localized groups doing work on climate change issues. Currently, 350.org as well as a host of other collaborating organizations are mobilizing on an international divestment campaign, utilizing student power to urge higher ed institutions to divest their holdings from the fossil fuel industry.

Our small group has kicked off our own U of T divestment campaign here on campus. We have literally just begun, but have already gathered about 400 student/staff/fellow hard copy signatures including senior faculty, visiting fellows, and prominent members of the local community such as former Toronto mayor David Miller.

All this to say that, it would be really great to connect efforts between groups. We are trying to acquire a host of support from the UT community, including support from faculty, unions, and other student groups -- in hopes of actually working together with other groups, such as yours, on this campaign.
In addition, we would be happy to help promote events your group may be running.

It would be excellent to hear back from you, and to hopefully acquire you're groups support.

Thanks very much for your time,
Monica and the Toronto.350 org team :)
