The
U of T Friends of Wisdom are recruiting new executives for the 2014/15 school year. The following positions are open to all members of the U of T community (students, staff, faculty, and alumni): President, Vice-Presidents, Secretary, and Treasurer. To apply for (a) position(s), kindly send a brief public statement by the morning of September 26. The statement should be about why you want to join the leadership team and/or why you’re a great candidate.
The President is responsible for:
• Overseeing the operations, management and success of the group
• Being the spokesperson for the group
• Holding signing officer authority along with the Treasurer for financial purposes
• Presiding over board meetings as well as general meetings
• Ensuring transition of office to the future Executives
Additional responsibilities may include:
• Handling official correspondence of the organization
• Appointing additional (willing) executives (in case there’s a position available)
• Marketing
The Vice-Presidents are responsible for:
• Assuming duties of the President in his/her absence
• Overseeing the various committees
• Ensuring that all the activities of the club meet regulations and policies of the University of Toronto
• Coordinating organizational recruitment efforts
Additional responsibilities may include:
• Marketing
The Secretary is responsible for:
• Making a list of all registered members
• Maintaining the web sites and member contact list
• Recording notes and motions for meetings
• Notifying all members of meetings
• Handling official correspondence of the organization
Additional responsibilities may include:
• Coordinating social media
The Treasurer is responsible for:
• Recording all financial transactions of the group
• Holding signing officer authority along with the President for financial purposes
• Maintaining a budget of income and expenses along with receipts
• Advising members on financial position of the group
• Preparing an annual budget for the group as well as budgets for specific events
Additional responsibilities may include:
• Fundraising
Our elections are from 12:15-12:45pm on September 26th, 29th, 30th in
the lobby of Sidney Smith (look for the ballot box to find us,
and bring your T-card). One can alternatively vote by emailing
uoft.friend...@gmail.com from one’s UToronto email
address. Only U of T members who have been a group member in good
standing for fourteen days prior to election dates are eligible for
voting.
We're also looking for volunteer graphic designers and marketers; people not from U of T are welcome to help out.
