Hey Bees! We have an event for you on Thursday! at 7pm at Hart House South Dining room!

U of T B.E.E.S. and Dig In! Campus Agriculture are teaming up once more to invite you to the third instalment of our delightful and informative Beekeeping 101 Workshop Series !

We are more than happy to have Brock Harpur, York University PhD candidate and bee enthusiast, to educate us keepers and bee-lovers on the parts of the bee that are becoming increasingly important in the midst of modern agricultural practices- its genes.

The seminar will include a brief introduction to Hymenopteran (bees, wasps, ants, and sawflies) genetics, a survey of the current research investigating the evolution of the honey bee using genetics, and finally a discussion of how citizen-scientists, beekeepers, and researchers are working together to understand more about genetic diversity in Canadian honey bees, and provide new tools to help beekeepers in the future.

Special Note: You do not have to have attended the prior workshops to come to this one ! Club members, non-club members, and wannabee club members are all welcome.

This even is FREE !
