We are in the process of getting solidworks home editions. Until then,
the only computer labs that have the program are mecE 3-23 and MecE
4-17. They are swipe card access for mecE students.

For those of you familliar with CAD, I have created a demo part. If
you can make this part in solidworks, then you will have found the
basic modeling commands. I have uploaded a picture of the demo part.

I've made some more demo parts. These models are made for people new
to 3D CAD and to design, so they are not as crazy as the last one.
Look for the word file "Solidworks Practice Parts" in the group files.
The first one is just practicing extrudes and patterns but the second
one is a good introduction to design intent and I think everybody
should try it out.

I might be able to get a mass distributon of both Solidworks and
MathCad. So if you are are currently lacking those tools... score!

I tried to open the part E-423 from the group and I got a message that
it was made with a newer version. Please confirm the version that you
are using. I'm pretty sure that the ones at school are 2009. They
should say 2009-2010 in the splash screen. If we have multiple
versions, let me know so I can work it out. The 64 bit and 32 bit
might be different versions.
