Hello Friends,
In 2010 when I was deep in the exploration and creation of Money & Life, I had the great good fortune to meet and interview Eric Harris-Braun. And by proxy I met his counterpart in the alternative currency world, Arthur Brock, a year later at Occupy Wall Street (remember that?). Crazy to think here we are, nearly a decade later. And what a journey it's been over these last many years, with a new crisis or villain trending across the social media realms every few days.
I've been keenly tracking Eric and Art all this time and their evolving work with the Metacurrency Project, sensing they were up to something potentially world changing (in a good way:). Eric and Art are two of the geekiest, kindest, most brilliant and loving people I know. And as their work has grown to a point of emergence into the broader world, they've attracted a team of equally brilliant amazing humans whom I've been working intensely with this past month...and we are called Holo. Holo is a community committed to growing a truly peer-to-peer Internet.
In short, Holo is the bridge from the web of today, to the decentralized Internet of tomorrow. Why? Because we believe a distributed Internet will liberate the web from corporate control and empower individuals, unleash creativity, foster trust, and help build thriving communities. And my vote is for more of that in the face of our beleaguered and uncertain world. It's about re-humanizing the spaces where we connect and exchange our energies. It's about being valued for who we are, not how much we amass. It's about human dignity, sharing abundance, and true freedom. Honestly, it's about love.
I'm not going to go into the technical ends of how Holo works. We are launching our Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign today and the campaign page lays out the ins and outs of what and how and why. Start with the 3:30 minute video (below) I cut for the project (which was a blast and fabulous challenge to collaborate on and the process hooked me on Holo).
