Greetings All!

For those of you new that are new, welcome, and tell us a little bit
about yourself by replying to this discussion thread.

For those "old timers" coming over from the Kunena Forum, the original
Introductions thread is still there at:

(Note- there is talk of somehow porting over the old K forum archive
over to the new google group, be we need to research this.)

I will kick off by repeating some highlights from my original Kunena
post circa Jan 2010, almost one year ago. Here goes.


My name is Dave, and I have recently replaced Jen in her outgoing role
as IL coordinator. I personally want to thank Jen for her noble and
groundbreaking efforts in getting the Illinois chapter up and running,
and hope that I do her proud.

I am 55/M, live in the Joliet area, and work as a Storage Architect,
basically a geek engineer in the data storage industry.

How I came across ZM: One day in the summer of 08, at the hint from a
friend that 9/11 might be a little fishy, I checked it out on the web,
quickly came to Part II of the Zeitgesit movie, and I watched it
dumbstruck. As a degreed engineer there was no refuting the damning
evidence, presented in plain sight, that it was a highly crafted
demolition job and an inside one at that. I then worked my way into
part III, the Fed, and finally part I, Religion, both of which equally
blew my mind, and I was hooked. Addendum released shortly after in
October, I watched it immediately, and after getting over the initial
shock of the "no money" idea presented by Jacque, I once again
realized from a technical engineering view that Jacque had in fact
nailed it. Like others on the thread, I had never really tied all of
the elements together of religion, politics, war, the monetary system
and technology until now, and it amazed me.

From there I watched both movies many times, with more and more detail
sinking in with each viewing. Since then I have been reading
voraciously filling in yet more gaps, have handed out many fliers and
DVDS, attended ZDay in NYC last March (and have been listening to
Peter's radio shows ever since), put together a little piece I call
'Stairway to Zeitgeist' which shows a brief glimpse of the past in
order to understand the future (it's in a pdf document or pps
slideshow which can be found on the IL toolkit page), attended the
Showdown in Chicago event in October with Jen and others, and most
recently in December I attended the Chicago debut of the 'Collapse'
movie, where I met up with other ZM members (or Zugs as I call them)
and we passed out many ZA DVDs and flyers.

upon Peter's first film at YouTube. Not the most uplifing film I ever
watched :p but it was certainly enlightening and that's always
welcomed. What got me excited was The Venus Project, and since
watching Z-Moving Forward it's almost all I can think about.

I look forward to getting to know other Z/TVP minded people here and I
am hopeful of contributing in some way to the awareness and the

Hello fellow enthusiasts!

I am brand new to this group and still somewhat new to the zeitgeist
movement. I have seen almost all of the movies so far and
I am looking forward to any new ones from the venus project or
zeitgeist. I am nineteen/M and currently a student right now
(although I do have a job at a restaurant) and I am studying cultural
anthropology. Although I am studying anthropology, my interests
range from geopolitics to economics basically across the board haha.
I first became concerned with society after I saw the film COLLAPSE
by Micheal Ruppert which is a great film and i highly recommend it for
those of you that haven't seen it yet =]. I feel like my studies
and the knowledge that I have learned from the zeitgeist films has
given me a unique view on our society and how it works,
and more importantly how it SHOULD work haha. I haven't been to any
events for the illinois chapter quite just yet but I know Zday is
coming up and I really look forward to meeting some like-minded
people!!

Hey everyone,

My name is James but you can all call me Jimmy. I was told about
Zeitgeist back in 2008 during my senior year of high school by my
english teacher. Sadly though i hadn't actually looked anything up
until recently when i was scrolling through old emails. But now i am
totally enthralled by this movement.

I am going to try and keep up with all the news of the movement. Also
i offer up anything that may be of use from me. I am 21, a musician
and someone who loves to learn. (and teach for that matter) Hopefully
i will be able to join events and anything else on the schedule in the
future, although i may be against the monetary system i do still have
a work schedule to follow also.

addendum i switched my major to computer information system so i can
be of some use if the project were to actually manifest in our
physical world. I live about 30 mins east of St.Louis MO and would

would like to start a band for doing shows and spreading the
awareness

Hi Everyone,

My name is Michael and I recently joined the Illinois Chapter. I
signed up for the ZM news letter a long time ago, but never really
looked to deeply into it. I knew that I liked the ideas I was hearing,
so I never unsubscribed. I wasn't even sure this was the right place
since I was reading about conspiracy theories, etc. Luckily, Tyrae set
aside a good two hours to talk with me over Skype. He answered a lot
of my questions, but more importantly, we ended the conversation with
many new questions on our minds.
I'm a student right now studying Horticultural Science. Specifically,
I am working in a lab that specializes in Controlled Environment
Agriculture (CEA) and we are starting a high-wire tomato experiment
using LED supplemental lighting.

Hello all, Happy Z-Day ! I'm Tony Harper a member of the ( Chicago chapter). My evolution or journey to the Z-Movement, I think is a natural progression. Has a child and teen I never actually fit -in , or understood nor like the society around me. I was a young child during the U.S. civil Rights movement,  I was fortunate, to actually see (Live) the Rev Martin Luther King Jr. Malcolm X, and many other personalities. And  revolutionary changes that occurred during that period in history the 60's.

 

Has a Black male in the American culture, The first and strongest institutional influence was that of religion. which is what most blacks in America, gravitated towards . That is due to the institutional slavery/racism. Our grandmothers, my grandmother and women of those generations held a steadfast commitment to religious  beliefs and concepts.

They often were founding members of the many churches, you see today.

 I'm denoting  all of this, because the church, particularly the black church was the major focal point in our lives , this goes all the way back to the negro spirituals that were sung on the slave plantations. Ultimately what develop out all this was something called liberation theology ! Which is vastly different than the  traditional religious teachings that you might be familiar with.

 

I, first became aware of this doctrine or method of teaching by studying, in particular the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Nation Of Islam and many, so many more authors, etc.. to many here to mentioned.

 

The next major event or progression, for me was to work with the LaRouche movement for those who don't know I'm referring to Lyndon LaRouhce whom by vocation was collage professor and economist. He ran for the U.S. Presidency several, several, several times. He and his organization have published many books, articles, one of which was so germane to my development was Dope Inc. ! A scathing exposé on the history of drug running not just here in the U.S. but worldwide.

 

This was the first time, I realize what the geo-political or has Peter recently stated geo-economic strategies, how these processes actually worked, or the  ramifications of events that you read about in history, which you get a watered down version or outright lie of ! the Transatlantic Slave Trade and the so-called illegal drug operations worked hand and hand !  I also ran for Lt. Governor for the State of Illinois , back in 1994 and the office of City Clerk in Chicago, both has a organizer with the LaRouche movement .

 

So, upon watching the Zeitgeist film series more of the dots have fitted together , so to speak . And have added a different dimension towards my evolution!

 

I'm currently one of the producers of the Z-TV Chicago project,  which produces Television programs, towards creating an awareness and educating the public. Of the tenants of the Zeitgeist movement.

 

Sorry, for this dissertation. There's so, so, much more that can be said. But this isn't the time.

i am patrick o'dowd in st. louis, mo.  i do not like the world society as it is.  i have read books by edward bellamy and people who have built communities based in part on his book looking backward.  i think that with technology and science today we have a rare opportunity to build a better, more sustainable society than ever seen before in the history of mankind.  we all come from the same ancestors when our geneology is traced to its roots. we need to come together and live as one with each other and nature.

HI all. My name is Joshua Hamel. I live in Bloomington, IL. I stumbled on the Zeitgeist movies on Netflix a short while ago and was hooked after watching Addendum, which was the first one I saw. I had long ago decided that this materialistic and anti-human society we live in was wrong and needed to go. But go where? I could never figure that out. for the past several years I have been trying to take my cousins communist philosophies and modify them into something that I felt was moral and sustainable because it looked like it would be better than the capitalism that we now endure. But I could never get it to work. No matter what I did there where always too many problems with the system, weather capitalist or communist. Then I found the Zeitgeist movies and the Venus Project. Now, these propose solutions that, to me, work far better than anything I have found or come up with over the last eight years or so. So here I am. I'm new to the activism part of this but have long studied the problems we have created in this world. I'm just glad I found this movement. It gives me hope that one day we can dig the human race out of the hole it's put itself in.

My journey here was started by the viewing of "Collapse" some 2 years ago which, through the ingenuity of "Netflix" , has led me on a documentary journey through its suggestions of like-minded programs.  The more I learned, the more I wanted to know, and the greater my need became to change and get involved.  It has led me here at last, delighted to see so many supporters already in my area. My name is Brianna Cantwell but you guys can refer to me as Bri or by my online name Podaci.
I handle web support for a insurance company and am currently pursuing a degree in computer science.

I actually happened upon the Zeitgeist movies one day when I was surfing Netflix. I have a profound interest in documentary's
so I decided to watch it. Needless to say I was impressed. These are things that I knew were happening all around me but refused
to accept. I then began to do research on the subject as I knew if I was to have this sort of outlook I would also need the knowledge
to defend myself.

My family is what you could refer to as the classic patriotic type. They refuse to even entertain the idea that the world may not exist as its portrayed by
the media and government. When I was deciding what to do with my life I knew that I did not care about money and I have tried to distance myself
from a form of study that could alter my values as such. For this reason I chose science.

I went to a catholic school until high school and even at a young age could not believe the stories they would tell. I brought this up to one of my teachers in third grade.
Her response was to not take these stories literal or as law but to think of them as moral guidelines. I think that the majority of people have these
doubts but refuse to face them or simply do not care enough to do so.

I want to make a difference in this world. If there is anything that I can do to assist the cause please do not hesitate to reach out.

Netflix has been terrific in helping spread awareness of the current zeitgeist and our need to move beyond it. Not just with Peter's films but some of the other docs on there! Did you end up watching all of the zeitgeist films on there (three of them)?

I will definitely take you up on that offer! We're always looking for more people to chat it up with others at events and even event planers. Artists for flyers and the like...all kinds of stuff! It's more about what skills you have to help out more than us asking you for help!
