be brief in this email, as there is quite a lot to do.
Firstly: icouldbe, naomba.com, Mkombozi and the UAACC are all deeply
moved at the number of mentor volunteers we have received for this
project! Within two weeks of our first email we have well over 200
wonderful people in East Africa and abroad who have emailed us offering
to help. This is definitely wonderful news.
Secondly: This is a pilot project. We are certain that there will be
things you will have comments on, want to change, like a lot and not
like very much through the entire length of the process. This is the
first time anyone has ever done anything like this in Africa, and your
comments are valuable and *very* necessary. The process may not always
go smoothly, but it is a learning experience for us, and we plan to
take everything we discover during the first few months of this project
and build on both our mistakes and our successes.
Thirdly (almost the end!): The cost of this project has been
underwritten by naomba.com, icouldbe, Mkombozi and the UAACC. We have
received no outside funding for this project, and there will certainly
be things that we will wish to expand on in the future. For the
moment, though, we have what we believe is an exciting curriculum and a
tremendous opportunity... Now on to the fun stuff!

your registration as a mentor. You will be asked a few pages of
questions (it took us between 10-20 minutes to fill this out) that will
be used to match you with a mentee. One very important part of this
process is the reference section. Because we are working with children
it is very important that we protect them in every way possible, and so
the reference section is very important.
NB: If you don't have an exact answer or match to some of the questions
in this registration process, or if you find parts of it not helpful,
difficult etc. those fall into the "second" category above... We
*need* your input -- so let us know what you like and what you don't
like.
After you fill out this registration page we also will be inviting you
to join our message room. You will get an invitation for this shortly,
and I hope that all of us at naomba, icouldbe, Mkombozi and UAACC can
introduce ourselves and that you as volunteers can use the message room
as a way of communicating with us and with one another.
This will not be the easiest volunteer position in history, as it is a
pilot, and there will be hiccups. But it will be successful, and
rewarding, and you are making history. Thank you again, and please
