I come bearing fantastic news! The icouldbe/naomba pilot is scheduled
to launch on Monday, June 19. Thank you for your patience during this
period of inactivity and welcome to the icouldbe/naomba family.
The kids' enthusiasm and their teachers' excitement for their
potential have me even more thrilled by this new partnership. If the
students are half as motivated as I know they will be, I can't wait
to see it demonstrated by their high usage of the icouldbe site. Zainab
(naomba.com coordinator in Arusha) and I would like to maintain a close
working relationship with you all to ensure that your mentees flourish.
We want them to take full advantage of this mentoring opportunity,
feelings I'm sure you share wholeheartedly. We also want to ensure
that you build trusting relationships with your mentees and we want you
to feel productive.
In order to fully prepare you for your role as mentors, we are holding
mentor training on June 8, 9 and 12, 2006 Thursday, Friday and Monday.
The trainings start at 6am (U.S.) / 1pm (TZ) and go through 5pm (U.S.)
/ Midnight (TZ). The sessions last for 30-45 minutes. What you will
need, if you are not already connected, is to download skype
(www.skype.com) and set up an account. Skype is an efficient and free
means of making international calls.
