This looks fantastic! I was pretty bummed when I found out the native app was going away but I think this will be be a lot better! Search has always been so cumbersome, I love the idea of being able to use my phone! Already donated, thanks again!

Shut up and take my money!! ? I was more than a little upset when I got the message that Netflix was abandoning WMC. After mine stopped working, as they said it would, I waiting about a week and then used some Google-fu to see if anyone had come up with a solution. Imagine my surprise when I found not only a way to restore the old Netflix app, but an app for Amazon Prime video AND a plan to make an even better Netflix app.

Awesome! I just donated for your effort alone. I plan to donate more if the app actually comes to fruition.
I also do some development, so I would be happy to contribute or do testing if needed.
Thanks again!

Marc,
Glad to see this is progressing. I am using your patch currently for Netflix in WMC, but had a hic-up today (kept saying no interent connection when I did have one) that got me worried.
I just donated because of the patch you did, and if this comes out, that will be awesome. As said above, having actual support instead of a workaround will be very reassuring.

Downloaded and installed Build 20151130 on two computers. Can not get it to work on either WMC. Goes to the red Netflix screen, stays there of a few seconds, flashes to the netflix login screen, then screen changes to gray screen telling me to make sure I have logged in and hit the green button. Yes I have logged into the account before running.

Thank you. It worked for the most part. I had to restart it a couple of times after having to give premissions. Also flashed an error message about 5 seconds going into the netflix menu for the first time. After the third attempt I was able to start a movie. I did notice that when the movie started I lost my mouse. Is that normal? I will check back to see if the beta has been updated. Thanks again..

I did get it working on windows 10, it kept complaining about silverlight not being installed, went to the history in internet explorer (where it was trying to download it). The link it was attempt to use was: =149156
I then ran the installation and the netflix MCE app worked ?

Thanks! This plugin is looking better and better. However, I am interested to understand the reason for using mongoose.exe webserver. What purpose does it serve? Can we not launch a browserWindow in fullscreen and control using MCE remote? Something like the MCEWebView plugin?

Thanks for a quick response. Thats what I thought it was used for. Will you consider branching this plugin in two versions, one supporting mobile search app and one without mongoose webserver that only supports MCE remote?

Tonight the app seems to no longer be working. Gives either the login needed screen even if already logged in or the script error popup. Note that I have not allowed windows updates in a long time on this machine so It should not be the bad windows update problem.

Hi, I like this plugin very much but I have a problem with it: As I live in Austria, a german speaking country, I want to watch the videos in german. But the videos always start within the plugin in english language with german subtitles. On the netflix homepage under settings, I have german as the default language. I also find no way within the plugin to change the language of the Video per remote control.
Thank you for your help!

Hi,

I hope somebody can help.

Hi,
I have just updated to the last 1.0 Beta Version. When I start the plugin I get a script error window on the first Screen when I press the upper or the lower key on the remote. So I can only navigate with the mouse

Having an issue where launching the Netflix App within WMC gives me no control with my Harmony remote. Any button I press to move around on the Netflix causes it to go back to WMC main menu while forcing the Netflix page to the background. Only way to get rid of it is to start task manager and force close it. Any suggestions?

Hey Marc Love the app but the latest release does not allow me to search on my phone. It just returns to the search screen. I would really prefer to search on the screen rather than have another device to add to my arsenal of remotes. Any chance something new is coming

Hey Marc, Love the app and a I really appreciate all the hard work you have put into it! I will be donating. One question with Remote use.My remote works fine UNTILL I launch a video. after that there is no control what-so ever . No pause play ff rw anything. am I doing something wrong or is this still in the works. Also I love your Amazon Plugin. Works flawlessly. Any chance of a Hulu App?

Love the app way better than the WMC version Im still running. Just wish I could get the Registry entry to control the monitor it defaults to working. My main monitor is 1, but TV is monitor 3 with WMC. When launched the app goes to monitor 1 :(. Tried multiple variations of registry edits as documented in the README. Could not get it to work. Standing by and will keep checking for a fix in future version. thanks for your hard work Marc (use Amazon too).

DRM issues are almost always related to your setup; be sure IE11 on your PC can play the same video from the netflix website. If it does; email me a screenshot of the error and the name of the video you were trying to play and I will test. sup...@sharepointadept.com

Hi Bobby; the search app was released but later removed due to an exploit found in the 3rd party web server component I was using. Rather than risk further issues I replaced the app with an on-screen remote friendly keyboard for doing the search.

I too have been a very long time Windows Media Center user, but I use WMC for personal photos/videos and for ripped DVD/Blu-ray movies & ripped music DVDs. This way I can listen to a playlist of music DVD chapters (aka tracks) in 5.1 surround sound AND watch my favorite family photos at the same time.

On the other hand, we were using a TiVo Edge with some ad-skipping & with some streaming apps for our LTV/DVR. Recently, like you, I evaluated Channels DVR. And in parallel, I was deeply evaluating TV viewing history/tracking apps including ReelGood, JustWatch, SeriesGuide & TV Time.

Luckily I tripped across both the Apple TV Top Shelf feature as well as the cross-streaming app aggregator/tracker Apple TV App (and thus a competitor to ReelGood, JustWatch, et al). Adding Channels DVR client to the Apple TV for our LTV/DVR content and using the Apple TV App for all of our steaming content was A GAME CHANGER!!!

And our one remote is a Harmony universal remote, so that its easy to switch from watching TV on the Apple TV to watching our favorite family photos while listening to our favorite 5.1 surround music on our Windows Media Center PC.

Thanks for sharing I'm a bit of a techie so I understood must of the details. I also run Channels on the same PC as Windows Media Center the part I didn't quite get are you saying you also have the following apps installed ReelGood, JustWatch, SeriesGuide & TV Time. On a side note I hear the Windows 11 that's being released Oct 5th will allow or incorporate Windows Media Center not sure if that's just internet rumor or fact?

So for the confusion about ReelGood, et al. The point is that TV Tracking is splintered across each device/app we use. For instance, we are use to a DVR with a list of recordings, we are use to Netflix tracking what we are watching, Prime Video tracking what we are watching, Hulu tracking what we are watching, HBOmax, et al tracking what we are watching on their service.

Therefore I evaluated those that do this to some extent. This includes ReelGood, JustWatch, et al. You also have to evaluate each one of these of each platform because their respective User Interfaces (UIs) are slightly different with various limitations per platform. And some don't work on all platforms.

The platforms I evaluated each one of them on were Roku, Fire TV, TiVo Stream 4K, Android TV/Google TV, Apple TV, IOS & Android. And each platform also has its ways of TV Tracking to some extent. Lots of variations to evaluate which resulted in a very detailed XLS of my evals. Note: some apps, like Channels, isn't available on Roku.

After weeks of evaluations over a few months time, I tripped across the Apple TV App on the Apple TV AND Apple TV's Top Shelf feature. So the Apple TV App & Top Shelf was added to my lists. AND IT SOON BECAME OUR TV TRACKING SOLUTION

So on our Apple TV, I have the Channels DVR client installed for our LTV/DVR viewing along with the Apple TV app for our streaming media viewing with its 'connection' to the Prime Video, Hulu, HBOmax, Peacock, Apple TV+, Acorn TV and Disney+ apps. And the Top Shelf shows our TV Tracking across Channels & Apple TV App.

Regarding the WMC on Win 11, I assume they are just rumors that one can install WMC on Win 11 just as we did on Win 10. Still needs to verified by the early adopters of Win 11 (I won't be one, even thought I was actually on stage with Bill Gates at the initial Microsoft Windows announcement at the World Trade Center back in 09-10-2001 aka 20 years ago in 8 days time....)

Windows Media Center lets you schedule recordings of TV shows and movies. You can even schedule to record all instances (new episodes) of your favorite TV show! Windows Media Center also makes it very easy to view all your recorded content.

Windows 7 supports a variety of high end displays including HDTVs. You can connect your PC to your HDTV and use Windows Media Center to watch and view all your media. Of course this works with a standard PC monitor too. But because Windows 7 makes it easy to share your digital media, you can have 1 PC connected to your HDTV in your home for Windows Media Center and bring in content from all PCs on your home network to that single PC connected to your HDTV. You could also use the Extender for Windows Media Center technology built into your Xbox 360 to access the same Windows Media Center menu you are used to using on your PC.
