Typo3 vs Drupal ?

Hi from a newby.

I have a question before I start on a pet project.
It's about social networking, meaning that the users will be
loosely"connected" to each others. They will have the usual blogs and
photo sharings...

So I'm wondering if Typo3 is a better option than Drupal would be ?
Like, is there more user interactions with Drupal ?
Typo3 seems to be more content centered than users...

Is this a real dumb question or can someone give me his/her gut
feelings?
