Hi!

I'm using typica for SimpleDb, and I need to be able to see the return
codes I'm getting from SimpleDb. I saw someone ask a similar question
back in June 2009 with no answer, which worries me greatly, as I can't
find any documentation.

I hope someone reads this list and has an answer, or can point me to
some other Java library that works with SimpleDb.

Thanks!

Hi Jorge,

I'm a bit worried about the status of typica myself. It'd be nice to
know if its 'officially' inactive or not.

The only java alternative I'm aware of and have tried, is the Java AWS
SDK, which include SimpleDB support. Not sure off the top of my head
if that provides the return codes or not, but right now I'm still
using typica as I have a liking for Typica's (2nd) simpledb wrapper
API, and Amazon's SDK doesn't expose the CPU utilisation data in the
responses to SimpleDB API calls.

Yes, it seems clear that the proyect is dead. I managed to get the return codes by printing them out in the AWSQueryConnection.makeRequest method.

The problem I now found is that I cannot build a typica.jar that can replace the old one I had (1.6). The new jar does not include the libs. I could change the build.xml to do that, but at this point I'm considering either staying with the old version or switching to something else.

Hey guys,
I've been wondering what to do with typica for a while. My new employeer endorsed me spending some time on it, so long as I got my other work done. Haven't been too sure when to do that, but I've pulled down new WSDL to get started on getting new features in there.
I've done a little work with jClouds, helping them test against Eucalyptus. They have a pretty good Java option, but not for all of the AWS services. The AWS SDK stays current and supports a wide range of services. When that was announced, I seriously questioned why continue with typica. I've enjoyed working on typica over the years and would certainly like to bring it up to date and address things in the issue tracker.
I'll spend some time on this in the coming weeks. I'd really like to get another release out.

David
