Hi there,

I bought my TypeMatrix 2030 (BÉPO layout) back in january 2016, and in the last 15 days, several keys randomly stopped working, namely Y X . Enter Q G H

I sometimes manage to get them woking by hitting them very hard or trough going back and forth to 102 or 106 layout (but more and more often, this does no solve anything anymore). Is there anything I can do to fix that ?

4 years seem quite a short lifespan for such an expensive keybord. Thanks for your answer.

Laurent.

That unfortunately sounds like an electrical issue. If you're super-sure that there's no liquid that could have spilled into the keyboard, it's possible it's a keyboard hardware issue (It sounds like a shorting on the plastic film that the key traces are on).

You best bet is to email them at sup...@typematrix.com and explain your situation. You're likely out of your warranty period (Although January 2016 to October 2019 is more like 3 years, not 4, but I believe the warranty is for 2 years?). They may offer a replacement for low or no cost. Did you buy directly from typematrix.com? If not .. then you'll likely have to beg whoever you bought it from, but if you did, I've heard they're very reasonable.

Wish I had better news,
-Reinard

Hi

Thanks for you answer. I followed your advice and wrote an email to typematrix. Mail in which I explained that the french online shop (one of the french tech "big players") where I bought it does not sell it anymore (with link and invoice).

I'll wait for an answer.

Thanx again.

Laurent.

Hi everyone,

For those who question the repairability, know that I had the opportunity to salvage, open and repair 2 or 3 keyboards whose circuit (under the keys) had been damaged by liquid projections.
This operation required the following equipment:
- Small screwdrivers
- A voltmeter
- Conductive varnish (Loctite 3863 circuit+)
- Acetone + plastic welding tubes
- Several small clamps of hold

Stéphane.

Hi,

That's something I would be interested in. I have a kb that has the bottom row that doesn't respond anymore.
I could open the kb itself, but didn't split the board between the sheets and the metal plate (it's would be damaged if I tried to open it without any idea how to fix it back).

Would it be possible for you to make us a tutorial, maybe with pictures or a video, to fix such a conductive issue following a spillage ?

(Alternativement, dans cette optique, on pourrait se contacter, par téléphone éventuellement, je suis français aussi).

Thank you,
