Hello everyone,

I am a proud owner of a 2030 since 2018, and I have to admit that it is starting to show signs of age.

I love typematrix, I really do, and even the few other orthogonal keyboards don't compete with what I love most, like the start and end keys next to the arrows, the enter key in the center, etc...

So I'm hoping to buy a new typematrix soon; I started to learn about the keyboard again, and finally came to this conclusions:
- No more bepo stock, only white. You can still find some elsewhere, but it gives a little bit the impression that it will be "while stocks last".
- No news from the company on their networks, twitter or facebook.
- The blog displays a beautiful error and is no longer accessible.
- I mailed the company over a month ago, asking if a new version is in study (I'd love to see a wireless model come out), and I never got a response.

This makes me wonder if this company is still active, or if we should not expect anything more than what was already invented when the 2030 was released. What do you think about it?

Thanks for your feedback.

It doesn't sound very promising but perhaps they're still honouring new orders to sell off what's left of the stock?

Surprised you have signs of age after just 4 years. I bought a pair of 2030s over 10 years ago, the skins are showing a little wear now but mechanically the keyboards are good as new. Sadly one I split water on while cleaning which now has a couple of dodgy buttons despite disassembly and cleaning the tracks with rubbing alcohol (it was better for a while but problems eventually returned). I'm looking to place an order for another two; one as a replacement, and one a spare. Will have to let you know if they turn up.

Indeed, I think there will never be a typematrix 2040 one day.

About the wear, I have indeed some regular problems : some keys don't answer systematically anymore, mainly on the bottom line, right side. This morning for example, the left arrow doesn't do anything when I press it. Yesterday, it was the key above the top arrow. For the moment, it's coming back, but I still have a new malfunction appearing.

I would like to specify that I take care of my keyboard: I always use a skin, and I have completely dusted it to remove any residue under the keys.
Anyway, knowing that I will never have a 2040, I hesitate between coming back to reason and buying a classic keyboard or persevering and buying a new 2030, even if wired...

Hello,

Sad to see that there is no feedback anymore …
I have been using 2 keyboards for about 10 years, now, using skins, still working fine. As I use them at 2 different offices, maybe that’s what helps them last longer :-)

I was looking at changing the skins (starting to wear, no longer waterproof), but the 68$ shipping costs for 2 skins @30$ is a no-goer …
And then I remembered I ordered through Zenlap in France. They seem to have some keyboards & skins too.

But honestly, it would really a pain for me to go back to a "classic" keyboard, at least as much as it was a physical relief to discover the Typematrix … I keep mistyping when using a classical keyboard, much more than with a Typematrix.

Hopefully "someone" will eventually wake up ?

Hi there,

just dropped by and wanted to reassure you a bit. I do see we haven't been very active recently, but we are indeed working on changing this :)

We just launched a survey to know more about all of your needs, check it out :)

Hello there,

sorry for resurrecting this thread. I am a Typematrix BÉPO keyboard from France. I got 3 keyboards (1 blank, 1 dvorak and 1 bépo) all used with BÉPO Skins (or sometimes with skin for the blank one) since more than 10 years now.

Unfortunatly, this year, 2 keyboards on 3 died… I am about to order one from the last stocks, because even it's very expensive for France, I just can live without a typematrix bépo keyboard now, so Imagine my sadness when Mary from Typematrix told me that the Typematrix keyboards will not be continued…

But she told me too that a guy will make a new keyboard taking over typematrix.

Does anybody has informations about it ?

THank you !

Happy to see that some people are still active there.

Do you guys at TypeMatrix have renders or insights of the next generation keyboards?

Hello everyone (first post)! I'm from USA (California).

Last I emailed Typematrix, I asked about if there's a new variant of their keyboard being worked on and sold, and they said a new version is either going to be released by the end of this 2024 year or early next year. That's all the info I got from that response. Either way, it's great they're still at work!

To all Typematrix employees: Do you think you can unveil the new keyboard via livestream? Like those product unveiling events that companies like Apple does with their phones? That would be cool! Also, opening an official company YouTube channel would be nice too. Seeing clips, interviews with employees, engineers, clients, customers and the workings in making the keyboard. I'm also hoping your blog section gets fixed and seeing some daily posts about what's going on and what's new :)

I'm hoping the new keyboard will have a detachable USB cable. Switches? I'm not picky, even if the keyboard has rubber dome switches, I'll still buy and use it.

Anyway, thank you all!

Hi,

Florian from Typematrix here.

So, yes, we really are working hard on the next version of Typematrix; while I can't really disclose exactly why and when, we are still here. From being burnt quite a few times by too early announcements, I prefer communicating only things we can commit to.

Livestream is a good idea, and taking shots of our development process is something I definitely must do, even though I didn't commit to yet. I have been discussing with Mary, who definitely wanted to send some more information (my bad on this); again, though, I prefer late but certain announcements rather than too early and unreliable info.

We will be back with info; at least something (information) will be out by the end of the year for sure :)

(and, hell no, rubber dome switches are not on the menu :) membrane keyboard yes, but done right, other types will come as we go).

Thanks so much for your continuous support!

Hi Florian, and thank you for your quick response!

Hahaha about the rubber dome :) All sounds good to me! (Personally, I've typed with Cherry MX red and black, Otemu brown, box white and Topre switches along with rubber domes and chiclets/scissors.)

And I totally understand! Best to get the info secure and ready to go before making the official announcement. Seeing the development process, watching your livestreams etc will be perfect! Another one, if you don't mind me suggesting, is souvenirs featuring your company logo like TypeMatrix shirts, caps, pens, paperweight etc. Sorry, that's how much I'm loving the TM keyboard :)

Alright, well best of luck! I can't wait to see the new keyboard! I'm subscribed to your newsletter via email as well so I'll be on the lookout in the coming months and into the new year.

Thank you so much once again!

Hi,

Just wanted to drop by after reading the mailing from Florian to wish you all a Happy New Year.

To TypeMatrix team: I hope you’ll manage to overcome the challenges you’re facing.

I’d like to order a couple of keyboards, and I wouldn’t consider anything other than TypeMatrix (it must be AZERTY, Bépo, or blank, though).

I love the 2030, and I can be patient. I don’t mind if you keep me waiting until the year 2030, I’ll take four of them instead! Keep up the amazing work!

Have you ever considered a Kickstarter? (I imagine it’s not that simple, but just a thought.)

Kind regards et encore bonne année !

Mathieu.

Hi! I came here for the same reason. Typematrix 2030 is pretty unique as a low, ortholinear keyboard with plenty of keys and the large enter and backspace in the middle. And the skins. And the special copy and paste keys. And the Dvorak wired internally. I'll wait for the 2040 for as long as needed!

Happy new year to the team, hope 2025 will make it happen!
