Hi there, I am using an almost brand new TypeMatrix 2030 keyboard on latest macos version.

Both alt (option on mac) keys on the TypeMatrix keyboard are behaving extremely weirdly, using karabiner event viewer here's what I am seeing when typing the alt key:

But sometimes it would be:

Has anyone seen this/solved this already? It feels weird that all keys are working well but those two alt keys are behaving randomly, is this an electrical malfunction?

A few things to consider

  • Are you certain the keyboard was in the same layout mode for both those? What mode are you in?
  • Left/Right alt? They don't do the same thing.
  • are you doing any remapping? not sure if this is a pure hardware list, or if this event stream is already modified. Those codes are odd so I'm thinking this is listening to os messages and not hardware codes sent, which are subject to modification.
  • Are you sure you're pressing alt? none of those codes appear to be the alt key (0x3A or 58 for left option and 0x3D or 61 for right option) so that's odd
I'm not really familiar with that software, but it certainly looks like it allows all sorts of mappery. Are you experiencing any problems in normal keyboard use or are you just curious about what's being reported by this app?

You can use KeyRemap4MacBook to remap the keys if necessary.
Apparently this is the latest version.

Hey there, thanks for your answers already, I have no modification at all on my system. I believe that right before my keyboard stopped working correctly there was a small electrical glitch that I felt while touching the keyboard which may have broken some of the keyboard internals.. I just bought a logitech mini keyboard and will be using that now. I used TypeMatrix keyboards for long time but I had multiple different issues and the keyboards do not last long enough (or I was unlucky). Either way I would have loved to have a new keyboard sent to me instead.

Thanks!
