Rob brought our lesson for the second week in a row….record (?) He taught on Luke 10:25-37, the parable of the good Samaritan. We discussed the question the expert in law asked Jesus concerning what is eternal life. Eternal Life is knowing God through Jesus (which begins with Salvation). Some great ways to know God is to spend time with him, communicate with him through prayer, trust in him, and by praising him and his good works.

Prayer Requests:
- Mitchell: His parents are traveling to California this week, pray for safe travels for them. Also,
pray for safety for Mitchell and Amanda as they are traveling this week as well.
- Guatemala Mission trip: They left today and will be back July 27th. Pray for safe travels and
that many lives are changed by the work that will take place during their trip.
- Josh Farrow: Praise, the dog they found has a new home.
Pray for Josh and Becca and the financial decisions they need to make. Pray for
             guidance with their decisions.
- Kerianne: Two of her friends have recently had miscarriages.

- Brian Toogood: His cousin's wife, Jaime, is in the Philippines, where the typhoon hit last
week. Pray for safety for her.
Praise, they are closing on the land for their new office this Friday!!
- Amanda Toogood: Pray that Amanda is able to get results/answers from the endocrinologist
           this week.
- Callie Cochran: She is having scans done today, pray that she continues to be cancer free.

- Angie Wiley: Her friend Sharon had surgery recently, pray for healing for her.

- Chalon: Her office is experiencing growing pains, which has been very stressful on everyone.
Pray for them to have a sense of peace during this time.  Also, pray for healing for one of
her co-workers who injured his hand from second degree burns and won't be able to work
           until it is healed.
- Nathan: Praise, his truck is fixed.
Pray for Meredith to feel better and for strength as she takes care of Gabe while Nathan
             is in Guatemala.

Announcements:
- August 22: PDBC will be going to a Rangers game at "the ballpark". Contact the church office if you are interested in going.
- Women of Faith Tour: Sept. 19-20 in Dallas. Tickets cost $95. Contact Caroline Daggs if you are interested in going (325-370-8844).

Mike brought us a great lesson from Luke 10:38-42 when Jesus goes to the home of Mary and Martha. Mary sat at Jesus' feet and listened to what Jesus was saying while Martha was distracted by all of the preparations. Martha was worried about "so many things" (which are good things to worry over), but Mary was doing the "only one thing that was necessary" (having a relationship with Jesus). This story is about priorities. We discussed how we often get distracted with the "good" and don't set aside time for the "best"- spending time with Jesus/having a relationship with him. Martha sacrificed the best on the alter of the good. The challenge for us this week is to work on making time for the BEST, not busying our lives with the good. Hope everyone has a great week!!

Prayer Requests:
- Amanda and Brian Toogood: Kent Brantley, a doctor who works for Samaritan's Purse, tested
positive for Ebola. Pray for the doctors and nurses who are taking care of him and pray for
a miracle that he survives this disease.
Praise, the Toogood's closed on the land for their new office last Friday. Pray that the
building process goes quickly and smoothly.
- Denise Naredo's mom was injured in an accident and is in critical condition. Pray for healing for
         her body.
- Wes Hayes: He is sick and needs prayer that he gets better before he leaves for Korea.  Pray
for safe travel for Wes when he leaves for Korea in a few weeks.
- Donna Walls: Her uncle, George, passed away and his funeral is today. Pray for their family
         during this time.
- Nate Hopper: His dad is about to build a new house on their farm. Pray that everything goes
         smoothly.
- Caroline Craver: Her American mom is in the hospital right now.  She has PVT and 4 clots in
her abdomen.  Pray for healing on her body and that the doctors can find out what is
          wrong with her.
- Angie Wiley: Her friend Sharon came through surgery nicely, but will have to do either chemo
or radiation. Pray for her as she prepares for her upcoming chemo/radiation.

Announcements:
- Toilet paper: Nathan still needs toilet paper for Baptist Social Ministries' pantry. Drop donations off at the connections table on the Sky Bridge or at the Church Office.
- Global Leadership Summit: August 14-15, it will be telecast live at the church. Registration is $129 per person. You can sign up online at pdbc.org.
- Women of Faith: It will be held in Dallas, Sept. 19-20. Tickets are $95. Contact Caroline Daggs (mcld...@gmail.com) if you are interested.

Dear Tychicus prayer warriors, first let me share that Caroline's mom has a care page--shoshosue. Caroline's mom was transferred to a university hospital in Chicago yesterday. The new team of doctors discovered that her liver actually does have tumors, and she is being placed in hospice. This is terribly upsetting for Caroline to be so far away, and she and Travis are deciding their plan of action which will most likely include a plane trip to Chicago for Caroline in the very near future. Pray for clarity and the chance for Caroline to get to see her mom soon. Also pray for strength for Bruce, Caroline's dad as he deals with this new direction of his sweet wife's illness.

Love you guys!

8. Pray for Alissa and her family.

I am going to attempt to make Katie proud, here is a snippet of our lesson. Rob brought a great lesson out of Luke on what our prayer life looks like to us, and who we perceive God to be when we pray to Him.

What is prayer to us?:
Selfish, convo with God, dictating our expectations, hurried, powerful, effective, calming

When/how/why do we pray:
Nighttime, at meals, together, for forgiveness, to develop our relationship, to bring God glory

In prayer, do we look at God as God or as our Father. How does your relationship with your father alter your outlook on this?

In the coming weeks we will be taking a more at depth look at prayer, the meaning of Father (Abba) and our Hallowed Heavenly Father.

In his lesson, Rob referenced a great book, "Prayer" by Richard Foster.

See you next week, church family!
