GATHERING 2013: CALL FOR PRESENTATION OF WORK

 

Gathering is an initiative created by TYA Ireland and run on an all-island basis by TYA Ireland and TYA NI, a division of TYA UK showcasing and celebrating the diverse range of work currently being created for young audiences. The event is a focus point for all companies, producers, programmers and artists to come together; to share work through performance and presentation; to create points for discussion and potentially to advance strategic plans to increase and improve the quality, access and diversity of the forms. This year's Gathering will be hosted by TYA NI in Derry/Londonderry from 28^th – 30^th October 2013, capturing the excitement of the UK's first City of Culture. Partners will include the University of Ulster Department of Creative Arts & Technologies, Magee Campus and the Waterside Theatre.

 

TYA NI are calling for expressions of interest for presentation of work at Gathering 2013 under two strands: new/existing work by established companies and excerpts from works-in-progress from emerging artists.

 

A successful application by TYA NI to ACNI will support travel and accommodation costs for selected companies/ artists however there is no provision for fees.  Selected emerging artists will have their delegate fee for Gathering 2013 waived.

 

For both strands please submit: Organisation/ Artist name, lead contact telephone, address and email, title of work and a 50 word summary/ synopsis for use in the Gathering 2013 programme. In addition, each submission must include the following information for the relevant strand.

 

ESTABLISHED COMPANIES STRAND:

Please submit the following:

-          a description of the work

-          links to any documentation

-          a tech spec for the work including space and technical requirements, audience capacity, get-in/ get-out and running time

-          an indication of the target age-range for the work

 

EMERGING ARTISTS WORK-IN-PROGRESS STRAND:

This will be a rehearsed reading of a new work or the presentation of a production-in-the-making presented by new/emerging practitioners. We anticipate a number of emerging artists presenting simultaneously in different spaces in the same building with small groups of delegates moving from artist to artist.  The excerpt should be technically self-supporting and no longer than 5 minutes.

Please submit:

-          A description of the work and an indication of where in the development process you are

-          An artist/ company biography

-          An indication of the age-range of the work

 

 

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR BOTH STRANDS IS MONDAY 26^TH AUGUST 5PM

A panel of TYA NI members will review submissions and make final decisions by the end of August 2013.
